Cleveland Show, Week of May 7th, '06. (H. A. Daniels.) JOHN ZIMMER---Novelty Juggler. Works Straight. One of the quickest men with the tennis balls in the business. A very acceptable act. Drop in one. 10 min. MONROE, MACK & LAWRENCE---Sketch, "Maggie's Day Off." This is not the original Mack. The sketch can not be compared with their two former offerings, "How to get rid of your Mother-In-Law" and "The Two Senators" There is more rough-house in this act than in either of the other two, but the man in Macks place is weak, and I would much rather have played either of ther old acts. C.D.F. in 3. 13 min. The act went off without a hand. BILLY VAN---"The Minstrel Man." Worked white-face today, so as not to conflict with Tenney. Received advance applause, and his entrance opened well. However, I think they tired of him bifore he finished, for he did not close nearly as strong as he opened. Will try and have him cut his act down four or five minutes tonight. Drop in one. 18 min. WATERBURY BROTHERS & TENNEY---Comedy musical sketch, "Harmony Island." This is a new act, Tenney has changed all his comedy, and the Brothers have changed their work. Tenney opens the act alone in one for two minutes. Their work today was well received, and I think the act fully as good as the old one. 24 min. C.D.F. in 3. Open in one. GRACE CAMERON---Character songs with costume changes. Gave today a Spanish girl, a Juvenile character, and followed this with her famous Dolly Dimple song from "Piff! Paff! Pouff!" Her whole act was very well received by the audience, and I would be glad to play her a return date next season. Drop in one. 16 min. JOHN HYAMS & LEILA MC INTYRE---Man and woman. Comedy Sketdh, "Two hundred Wives." There is not much sketch to it. There is a thread of a plot which serves to introduce singing and dancing specialties. They do some of their "Mother Goose" work. Miss McIntyre's singing went especially well, and their dutch character makeup, with which they close the act, serve for a lively finish. Good act. Kitchen in 2 1/2. 25 min. CARLIN & OTTO--Two men. German talking act. These boys are well known around the circuit, and its enough to say, that they held down this spot today, and made god. Good act. 16 Min. Drop in one. KITTY TRANEY---I had this lady billed to present her "Wonderful Troupe of trained animals." The billing is misleading. Miss Traney carries with her, a pony and three dogs. She makes her entrancd in a flower-wagon The pony is unhitched, and she balances the wagon on her chin. Miss Traney then does a novelty juggling act with plates, flower-baskets, and Champagne bottles. At this work she is very clever, and I consider her the most graceful woman juggler I have ever seen. Three small trained dogs are then introduced. The act closes with Miss Traney riding in the flower-cart behind the pony, while, the dogs jump through hoops attached to the pony's forelegs. The act is a good one from beginning to end. Gar. in four. 11 min. KINETOGRAPH--The Drean of the Opium Fiend Good. The Burglar. Good.
