2. JULES & ELLA GARRISON, in "An Ancient Roman":- 20 min. F.S. 2 shows. Some advance applause. This act has been somewhat changed and considerably improved since its appearance here last Fall. The comedy work of the supers brought lots of applause and fun. The audience thoroughly appreciated the humor of the situation. It does not seem that the Garrisons' quick return has made any difference with their popularity. Closed strong, with big applause. EDGAR BIXLEY, Comedian:- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. Has a lot of good songs, and sings them with a good deal of dash. He caught the crowd, although it is nothing of a star-feature. Held down the place pretty well, and won two or three encores. SECOND SERIES OF EARTHQUAKE PICTURES, SAN FRANCISCO:- 12 min. Quite as interesting as the former ones. with some additional events, depicted, as, for instance, shooting of looters, arrests of pilferers among the refugees, in camp, etc. Some humorous episodes took the edge off the horror of it. Held the interest of the audience throughout. PRELLE'S DOGS:- 12 min. F.S. 2 shows. This is one of the most novel dog-acts we have ever had. Fifteen dogs are dressed up as elephants, horses, slow, but before it was half through, the audience was applauding and laughing at the novelty of this feature. The children will especially delight in it. In fact, it is a very good children's act. JAMES T. POWERS & CO., "Dreaming":- 23 min. F.S. 2 shows. Works with four men, the "White City Quartette". Received good advance applause. The plot of "Dreaming" is very slender, but it gives Powers an opportunity to display his versatile talents. These lgeitimate stars fall down so often when they come on the Vaudeville-stage, that it is quite a relief to have anyone on the bill who really lives up to a big reputation. Held the interest to the end. Applause after his various songs was strong, ad there was a good hand at the finish. At least two hundred people left after his act, showing that a big name had drawn them to the house. Will go better with evening audience. RAYMOND & CAVERLY,"Wizards of Joy":- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. These people have a pretty good line of stuff and got a good many laughs for their dialect work. The dancing and the burlesque opera at the finish got a very good hand. Held down this difficult place in a satisfactory manner. BEDOUIN ARABS,Acrobatic:- 10 min. F.S. Eight men, Regular whirlwind Arab acrobatic act. Each one of their feats got a good hand. A typical closing act and feature, well costumed, and thoroughly O.K. The finish was quite an ovation. The only one of the lot who is not an Arab got a little more applause than he deserved, probably because he showed such daring to mix it with these clever people at their own game. Will prove O.K.
