26 MAY 28, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E BARNS. SALMON & CHESTER, "The Australians":-16 min. in 1. 3 shows. Man and woman in Coster costume. Songs the same as they have been done here before by more important people, therefore they suffer by comparison. Lines quite clever, but neither one has personality to win a cold audience. Only fairly well received. Close merely passable. HENRY & FRANCIS, "The New Janitor":-17 min. F. S. 3 shows. Man and woman, one working straight and other eccentric Irishman. Man got a laugh from the start, and the comedy work of the little farce kept up a running fire of fun clean to the end. In fact, this feature was quite a surprise. It won the audience completely. Francis is a born comedian and should have a better vehicle. The woman makes a very pleasing presentation and sings very well. Francis has the whole thing, however, and won big hang. He deserved to go down the line. HILLS AND WILSON, Songs and dances:-12 min. in 1. 3 shows. Two boys in very neat light costumes. Some of their songs are new, and some of them otherwise, but they have a talking way and are O.K. for this place on the bill. Received good stiff hand at the close of each one of their specialties, and got an encore at the finish. THE TANAKAS, Japanese Jugglery and Magic:-14 min. F. S. 3 shows. A Japanese and evidently American woman in Japanese costume. The act is nicely dressed, and the feats which the man does are out of the ordinary. His work with the tops together with the woman's magic held the attention of the audience very well. A very graceful and picturesque act, and a valuable three-a-day feature. SUSIE FISHER, Vocalist:-12 min. in 1. 3 shows. Miss Fisher has a charming presence and remarkable voice. She sang three songs, dramatically, all of which were strongly applauded. For a straight singing act she combines good work with something of a novelty in the vocal line. M'LLE CHESTER & STATUE DOG:- 8 min. F. S. 2 shows. This is a very pleasing little novelty. It held the attention of the audience, as it well deserved. Miss Chester dressed very becomingly. The dog is certainly a beautiful creature and well trained. It is O.K. for this place on the bill. IRVING JONES, The Strenuous Coon:- 19 min. in 1. 2 shows. This man got them going from the start. Three songs and an encore, as well as a good line of talk, held the audience and brought constant laughter and applause. His is some of the best coon work we have had here for a long time. Finish was very strong. [cut off]
