29 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of June 4, 1906 Fadettes, 2 shows, 50 min. full stage--As on former years, the orchestra has been increased to 40 members. There have been a few changes in the personel [personnel] of the organisation [organization] and we have a new and very handsome stage setting. They were given quite an advance reception and of course every selection was encored. There is no question but what many people came in to see the Fadettes for some went out when they had finished. Nible and Riley, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1--Two men, in blackface in voval [vocal] and dancing specialties. The chap who works in blackface is a capital eccentric dancer, which helps to hold the act in this spot considerably. Excellent act from the 3-a-day standpoint. Flood Brothers, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage, close in 1--Two men, one working straight and the other in clown makeup, with an assistant whose work consists merely of impersonating a bear. The two men who work are clever and provoked lots of laughter in this sport today. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, 2 shows, 17 min. full stage--In the rural comedy sketch, "The Half Way House". Well-known on the circuit. This is the best spot this act ever had in this house, and were the Fadettes not here, it would have to go up. Tis not a bad act, but not strong enough to go on at 3 o'clock in this house. Johnnie Stanley and Grace Leonard, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--I can't see where these people come in for the salary at all. Stanley does his old act; and Miss Leonard does hers. There is practically no dual work done; it is just the two acts interspersed with each other. The audience could not see these people at all, and I should not care to play them again under any circumstances for the money they are receiving. They will have to go before the Fadettes tonight. Al Shoan and Charles Warren, 2 shows, 17 min. open in 2, close full stage. Presenting the burlesque specialty "Quo Vadis Upside Down". This act did not go with near the scream I thought it would, but still that is no fault of the act; we had a dull and apathetic audience. May Belfort, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--Englsh [English] Delineator of Descriptive Songs. Every inch an artist. Scored the applause hit of the show up to this point. Bert Leslie, Robert Dailey & Company, 2 shows, 17 min. in 3- (can close in 1 if necessary). In "A Jolly Bit of Tom Foolery". Has been described in the other houses. Scored a big laughing hit. Leslie is the limit and the girl is a clever tow dancer. Four Lukens, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage--Need no comment from me. Continuous applause. Susie Fisher, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Pleasing baritone vocalist. She sang four songs, all of which were encored. Could go in a better spot than we have here on the bill. Francis Wood, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Neat appearing chap rolling hoops. He has much improved since last here. It is not much of an act even from the 3-a-day standpoint; more filled. Comment:-Today was warm and sultry, and the audience was slow in coming into the house. They were very unappreciative and as a consequence the whole show seemed to go slow. We cut Leslie Dailey's close in 1, as it was a direct conflict with Shean and Warren's act. I think on rearrangement the show will prove fairly satisfactory. Stanley and Leonard's failure to make good hurt the show considerably.
