33 New York Criticism-June 4th, 1906. SMITH & 2 JOHNSONS: 16 min.-full stage closed in about 3 min-3 shows Colored. Well known. For a straight singing sketch, this act held its own and finished to some good applause. HENRY & FRANCIS: 17 min.-full stage-closed in one-3 shows In their comedy:-"The New Janitor." Scored quite a number of laughs. Man's imitations of Johnie Ray pleased immensely. Act is alright for an early place. THE TANAKAS: 13 min.-full stage-3 shows Japanse Top-spinning and Magic. Nicely costumed. Very neat little three-show act. All their tricks were executed in great shape. Held the attention of the audience throughout. Closed strong. SALMON & CHESTER: 16 min. in one- 3 shows Coster Singers. Act was described in previous criticism. The man's impersonations were fairly good. Woman just about passed. Act contains a lot of talk and dead material, which I will have to eliminate. MLLE. CHESTER & STATUE DOG: 9 min.-full stage- 2 shows Act still holds its own, as each and every pose went very strong, making it the applause hit of the show up to this time. DIAMOND & SMITH: 17 min. in one- 3 shows Illustrated Songs with Stereopticon and moving pictures. Nearly all of the film was seen here before as old Biography subjects. Still there is an element of novelty to it, but entirely too long. Sang four songs. Three went very strong,-the last one did not receive any applause. SNYDER & BUCKLEY: 25 min.-full stage closed in one. Musical Comedians. Well known. They are presenting the same act as they did on previous occassions [occasions] with absolutely new. It is remarkable how they get the laughs, for to-day they went exceptionally strong. SMIRL & KESSNER: 18 min-full stage-closed in one about 5 min In their acrobatic comedy:-"The Bell Boy and the Waiting Maid." While the acrobatic work of the man is good, they did not go as well to-day as on former occassions [occasions]. The work of the poodle dog introduced received more laughs than the entire act. ED. F. REYNARD: 18 min.-full stage- Ventriloquist Comedian. Received scattered laughs throughout and closed with three curtain calls. MELANI TRIO: 11 min. in one Italian Street Serenaders. All of their selections went exceptionally strong. Act closed with good applause. 4 FORDS: 14 min.-full stage Best dancing act we ever had. Applause hit of the show.
