34 2. JACOB'S DOGS, Equilibristic Dogs: - 11 min. in 3, close in 1. 2 shows. Carries several little fox-terriers, doing various stunts, after the manner of Joe Reichen. The dogs are wonderfully trained, and it is, form very standpoint, a good act, especially for the children. Close was fairly good. [illegible] show good care, and there is a little cute comedy to enliven the act. MELANI TRIO, Street singers and musicians:- 26 min. in 1. 2 shows. Three singers and instrumentalists in Italian costume. They sing in excellent style. Their songs are new, at least to this audience, and the music is sparkling and bright. They are a little shy on comedy, but they more than make up for this shortcoming. Each one of their songs got a good hand, and the finish was creditable. MR. ROBERT HILLIARD, "As a Man Sows":- 23 min. F. S. 2 shows. This is one of the best sketches in all the range of Vaudeville. It is highly dramatic from start to finish, is logical and written on a high plane. Hilliard received a good advance hand and his work showed that he was right in form. There was not a dull moment. The working up to the climax was immense. Hilliard received four curtain calls, showing that he had created the impression. Splendid feature for any house. The stage-setting was so striking and beautiful as to receive a hand on the rise of the curtain. RAY L. ROYCE, Character Sketches:- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. This man's character studies are true to life, full of genuine fun, and stamp him up in the head ranks. The "Village Lawyer", "Judge", "S.S. Sup't" and others were very close to the real thing, and got strong hand. Royce justified this place on the bill. QUAKER CITY QUARTETTE, Musical Blacksmiths:- 24 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. Three men, working blacksmith, one working blackface. Their singing is very true and shows good training. Selections were not particularly new, but they were well sung to good applause. The close in one, including a "Coon" sermon by John Healey, got a good many laughs. The finish was flattering. FLOOD BROTHERS, Acrobatic Merry-Makers:- 9 min. F. S. 2 shows. One works straight and two comedy. The acrobatic work is good in itself, but it is the knock-about fun of the act that carries it along. There are a great many new comedy stunts that are highly diverting. Nothing slow in this and a good many surprises. The children seem particularly to enjoy it. Finished to quite an ovation. KINETOGRAPH:- DETECTIVE'S TOUR AROUND THE WORLD:-Good swift film. ESCAPED FROM THE CAGE;-Comedy series that took quite well. KINETOGRAPH series this week is just about up to the average.
