59 New York Criticism--July 16th, 1906 ----ooooOoooo---- CURTIS & ADAMS: 2 men. German Comedians. This act will develop in time. Went exceptionally well to-day. Material is good. Feature of the act is the dancing, which carried them off very strong. 12 min. in one- 3 DELMORE & DARRELL: Man and woman. Singing, Talking and Character Impersonations. The only redeeming feature of this act is the man, who gives an impersonation of Carroll Johnson, making up in view of the audience, while the woman impersonates a mulatto; wears some very nice costumes, which helps the act greatly, but her voice is a "scream". Act pleased on account of the novelty end of it. 12 min. in two-can work in one- 3 shows AL COLEMAN: Good idea to kep this man off the circuit until he gets some new material. Gave us the same act as he has been doing for years. Just about got by. 12 min. in one- DELTON BROS: Comedy Acrobats. The straight men of this act were greatly appreciated for their work. Comedian received some few laughs. Good three-show act. 10 min.-full stage BUCKEYE STATE QUARTET: 2 working straight and two eccentric. This is one of the few quartets that have a fairly good blending of voices. Their singing is thoroughly alright. The comedy end of it just about got by. Alright for an early place. 11 min in one- 3 shows STANLEY & WILSON: This act opened a little tame, but got them going and secured the usual number of laughs with his clarinet imitation. Closed to big applause. 19 min.-full stage-closed in one about 2 min.-2 shows JEAN ARDELLE & INKY DINKS: This is a case where the "Picks" do the work and Jean Ardelle acts as a leader. She makes a nice appearance; wears nice costumes, but her voice, Oh! The "Picks" cannot sing, but they dance fairly good and with three changes of costume for the children, change of scenery, the act passes as a pretty fair three-show number. 12 min. in two- SELBINI & GROVINI: Man and woman. Making a very nice appearance in a quick juggling, hat-spinning, tumbling, acrobatic and bicycling exhibition. The beauty about this act is that they work quick. What they attempt is well executed. Were applauded throughout. Probably will closed the show with them to-night. 9 min.-full stage- 2 shows COAKLEY & McBRIDE: It is a relief to get an old-time vaudeville act and this certainly is one. All their material went with a scream to-day, scoring very big on their dancing. Applause hit of the show up to this VAN AUKEN & ENRIQUE: Horizontal bar act. 2 men. One straight, the other clown. Van Auken never did go well in this house. He is one of the many performers who demands an applause after he accomplishes a trick. Comedian don't amount to much. He will improve later on. 16 min.-fullst KINETOGRAPH: "Letters that speak" Novel. Fairly good "The Dogs' Smugglers" Showing a wonderful troupe of trained dogs. Quite novel. Very good "The Love-sick Soldier" Fairly good
