Phila. 2. DEAN EDSALL & ARTHUR FORBES, "The Two Rubies":-21 min. F.S. 2 shows. This was a pleasant surprise, being a farce with the old theme of the wife thinking that she is supplanted in her husband's affections by another, and with the inevitable simulations of insanity. There are a good many bright lines in the comedy which worked up to a very amusing climax. The audience seemed to be very pleased with it and gave it generous applause. It held down this spot, in fact, it will hold down almost any spot up till 8:30. TOM BROWN & SIREN NEVARRO:- Did not show up to-day. Substitution BAILEY & FLETCHER, coon comedians. ST. ONGE BROTHERS, Bicycle-act:-18 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. One working straight and the other eccentric. This act includes the regulation cycle feats with a few new stunts. The comedy is good and won the house. The close in 1 was O.K., comprising a monologue and some tricks on a standing wheel. I have an idea that the trick cycle act has seen its day, as the wheel itself has. NELLIE BEAUMONT & COMPANY, "My Busy Day."-20 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows. This act went fairly well from the start. The part of the office-boy was a little bit overdone, but it is funny, and there was a good deal of laughter. The theme is not new. It represents a lawyer's office-boy who takes charge of his employer's office. He opens letters, one of which is from a woman asking for assistance in procuring a divorce from her husband, and from another woman who has been bitten "on the veranda" by a dog. The former of the two women comes to the office for consultation. The boy thinks it is the woman bitten by the dog, and there is a good deal of funny talk in consequence of the blunder. The songs and dances with which the act is embellished are fairly good and were well received. The close in 1, in which Miss Beaumont appears in a stunning Spanish costume and sings a romantic song of Mexico, gives a very effective finish to the entire act. TOBY CLAUDE, Character Comedienne:-17 min. in 1. 2 shows. Miss Claude was in fine spirits to-day and each one of her songs got a ripping good hand. All of her work is artistic. She dresses charmingly and makes a stunning appearance. She received three encores and two curtain calls. She will go immense with the evening audience, and has justified our heavy billing. ZAZELL-VERNON COMPANY, Pantomime, "The Elopement":- 15 min. F.S. 2 shows. This is one of the best comedy acrobatic acts in Vaudeville. They carry their own scenery and there is abundance of quick action and fun throughout, with enough of surprises to keep the audience interested. It was such a laughing hit that we put it a little further up the bill as it is badly needed there. Distinctly O.K. wherever placed. KINETOGRAPH:-THE PROSPECTORS;-This is a first rate series of Western mining-life pictures, winding up with a tragedy. It is seldom that a picture gets good hand from the audience, but this one certainly did. Like the other film representing cow-boy life, it held attention every second of the time. TIPSTER TAKEN FOR A FOOL:-Fairly good comedy series of horse racing. Altogether KINETOGRAPH feature is quite up to the standard. Edsal & Forbes ...8:24 Bailey & Fletcher...8:45 Nellie Beaumont & Co....9:00 Zazell-Vernon Co....9:20 Toy Claude...9:35 St Onge Brothers...9:52 Kinetograph...10:15 10:30.
