65 Boston Show, Week of July 30, 1906. (F. J. O'Connor) Fadettes, 2 shows, 60 min. full stage -- The customary new program of selections, which seemed to go about as well as usual. I am of the opinion, however, that the interest of many of our patrons is beginning to wane. One of the selections, "A Day at the Circus", I think would be a good one for any of the houses. Jean Ardelle, 3 show, 12 min. in 1 -- Assisted by four "Pickaninies", in eccentric songs and dances. Miss Ardelle is woefully weak as a vocalist, and the "picks" are no winners in this respect. The act won out in great shape, however, with the eccentric dancing at the close. Excellent act from a 3-a-day standpoint. Goetz and Nelson, 3 shows, 13 min. full stage, close in 1 -- Two men, club jugglers on revolving globes. The act has improved considerably since we last played them, and they went acceptably in this spot. Flo Adler, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Singer of popular songs, accompanied by a boy singing from the box. The first two songs went very tame, but the boy scored quite a hit with the "Jealous" song. Stinson and Merton, 2 shows, 19 min. open in 3, close in 1 -- Eccentric comedians. Too well known to need description from me. Provoked lots of laughter throughout today, but dropped out very weak at the close, probably due to the disposition of the audience not to applaud. Sadi Alfarabi, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage -- European equilibrist. Has been commented upon from the other houses. As with all acts of the sort here, this man was repeatedly applauded and he got a big hand at the close. Harry Davenport, 2 shows, 11 min. in 1 -- In his vocal specialties, "English Types." The same selections he gave us two years ago, "A Peaceful Person", and "Our Bazaar". Got a big advance reception and scored quite a hit in this spot. His "Our Bazaar" is one of the most artistic bits in the varieties, I believe. Rappo Sisters, 2 shows, 6 min. full stage -- Russian character dancers. Been commented upon from the other houses. Each dance was appreciatively applauded and they got a big hand at the close. Jordan and Harvey, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1 -- Hebrew comedians and parody singers. Their "talk" did not appeal to the afternoon audiences, in fact, they almost fell flat. We put them after the Fadettes for the evening and they seemed to go much better. George B. Reno troupe, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage -- Man and woman, working straight, man in eccentric makeup and a midget, in tumbling and burlesque on a baseball game. The woman is a very clever tumbler and the burlesque provoked almost continuous laughter. Henry and Francis, 3 shows, 19 min. in 3 -- Man and woman, in a comedy skit. This was a real surprise. The man is a very funny comedian and provoked lots of laughter in the poort spot. I think he would make good in any 3-show spot easily. In fact, I think they got the most applause in this spot of any act of the season. Comment -- The day was extremely humid and the audience was loath to show appreciation. The show is not a great one by any means, but I think with the weather we have been having, it will prove as serviceable as any. Good summer audiences both afternoon and evening.
