68 Cleveland Show Week of August 6th, 1906. (H. A. Daniels) THE TOSSING AUSTINS-- A man and a woman. Tramp juggler and soubrette They did very well considering a very warm day and a very cold audience. C.D.F. in 3 16 min. Close in 1 2 min. THE METROPOLITAN OPERA TRIO-- Two men and a woman singing operatic selections in costume. They sang two selections from Il Travatore and the prison scene from Faust. Similar to Grand Opera Trio with Edith Deaker but not as good. They did quite well today everything considered. Open F. S. fo to 1 then to 2 1/2. 12 minutes. AL LAWRENCE-- Monologue and stories. This fellow has not as good an act as he used to present. He is getting careless. He persistently joshed the audience today because they would not laugh at his jokes, and when a man has to resort to this it is about time that he got some new stuff. He seemed to close a great deal better than he opened. I suppose the very warm weather has a great deal to do with the way the act was received by the audience. Drop in 1 20 min. EDDIE GIRARD and JESSIE GARDNER-- "Dooley and The Diamond" written by William G. Rose dramatic editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. This sketch is too well known for extended comment. Mr. Girard received some advance applause today and the act as a whole went as well as it ever has. C.D.F. in 3 24 minutes. INTERMISSION-- Ten Minutes. STEELY, DOTY & DOE-- Three men in a comedy musical act. Two work straight and one in black face. The act is greatly over rated as far as Cleveland is concerned. They did not loom up very well in comparison with other comedy musical acts that we have played here. There is altogether too much joshing each other to kill time so that they wont have to do any hard work. I am afraid that the newspapers will handle the act rather roughly in the morning. C.D.F. in 3 19 min. FRANK BUSH-- Monologue and stories. This man was booked in Saturday in an emergency to fill in the place of Al Weston and Co. who cancelled. While his work does not conflict with Al Lawrence it is hardly policy to have two male monologists in a seven act show. However I suppose it could not be helped. As far as laughter and applause is concerned Mr. Bush and the closing act received all that was given. Drop in 1 14 minutes. THE FOUR RIANOS-- Three men and a woman in an acrobatic comedy novelty entitled "In Africa" These people are doing the same act that they used to do before they appeared at the New York Hippodrome in the jungle scene. I think they are working better than they ever did before. The proved a strong act for this spot today and succeeded in holding the audience to the finish. A very good act. Special set in 4 13 minutes. KINETOGRAPH-- The Rajah's Casket. A colored film on the magical order with the scenes laid in India. Runs ten minutes. Very good.
