70 AUGUST 6, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. WALLACE TRUEMAN, Tramp Juggler:- 15 min. in 3. 3 shows. Good opener. Man's work is quite expert and his comedy is fair. None of the tricks was new, but they were up to the three-a-day standard. He missed quite a number of his tricks, but this is probably owing to the excessive heat and nervousness of his first appearance here. Think he will be better later. DELMORE & DARRELL; Singing and Dancing:- 12 min. in 1. 3 shows. Very neat little act of its kind. The singing is good and the talk is fair. The principal interest is the costume-changing of Delmore and his making up on the stage in imitation of Carrell Johnson. Delmore sings very well, but Miss Darrell's voice is rather disagreeable. There was a fairly good hand at the finish, and the pair held down this place on the bill. RADO & BERTRAM, "The New Girl":- 17 min. F.S. 3 shows. this sketch is written mainly to give a dancer and a contortionist opportunities to do some very good work. The changes of costume by the girl are rather effective and her work passes muster. The contortionist received the bulk of the applause and helps to hold down the act in this place. The hand at the finish was only fair. LES DURAND TRIO, Vocalists:- 12 min. in 1. 3 shows. this is a very good three-a-day feature. They are accomplished singers, everyone of them has a good voice displaying most careful training. Appear first in Tourist's costumes, afterwards in evening dress and lastly as Spanish Toreadors. Each one of their selections got a strong hand, as it well deserved. The finish was big for a feature of this kind. SISTERS DE FAYE, Musical Specialties:- 15 min. F.S. 3 shows. Two very pretty girls who make a very stunning presentation in superb gowns of yellow velvet. Their work comprises selections on the banjo, mandolin, violin, cornet and trombone, with a little singing and dancing in between. Final change to a costume of cream and gold is very effective and pleased at this season. They received very good hand for their work, and a curtain call at the close. This is O.K. for three-a-day section. JOHN HAZZARD, Original Stories:- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. Made an unqualified hit. His stories are new and delivered in a manner that shows that he is a genius in character studies. His selections included German, Irish and other dialect work, and all of it was faithful to the types he portrayed. He received big hands for each one of his stories, and an encore and curtain call at the close. Can hold down a much better place on the bill. SISTERS RAPPO, Russian Dancers:- 7 min. F.S. 2 shows. these are two stunning little women who go through their evolutions with the grace and dash that would hold the attention of any audience anywhere. Their dances are typical of Russia and the East. Held attention throughout and each one of their dances got a rousing good hand. Three changes of costume and all perfect. attention. It comprises the bum male quartette and the Music Hall singer, the fake "Terrible turk", etc. The mixing in of the supposed audience in the boxes is irresistably funny. This is such a new kind of fun for our audience that I am anxious to see how it will take with the evening audiences. If laughter and applause is any criterion, they certainly approved of the sketch mightily to-day, for although it was one of the hottest days of the year, the crowd forgot everything.
