2. -- FLO ADLER, Vocalist:-12 min. in 1. 2 shows. Got a good advance hand. The hit of the act was the singing of the song, "Jealous" in which Miss Adler was assisted by a clever boy in the balcony box who alternates the verses. It is a good, lively and taking feature. Closed good. JULIE RING & COMPANY,"A Quiet Life":- 20 min. F.S. 2 shows. This is an English sketch formerly called "A Happy Pair" and has been widely played by amateurs. It contains many bright lines. The action tells of a happy pair who fall to quarreling over trifles, and then making up. Miss Ring is a very pretty woman and an accomplished actress. The sketch held the attention of the audience very well and there was a little scattered applause. She received quite a good hand, and the finish was strong enough to justify this place on the bill. YOUNG & DEVOIE, "Dancing by Book":- 10 min. in 1. 2 shows. A very pretty girl pleasingly costumed, and a young man who is not only a very good dancer, but also something of a comedian. After the excellent dancing that we have had on the bill previous to this act, it did not get as big a hand as it deserved so it will go up further. There was a good deal of quiet fun in the act. Miss Devoie is very graceful and makes a good impression. The act went off well and the applause at the finish was quite satisfactory. SADI ALFARABI,Equilibrist:- 11 min. F.S. 2 shows. This man is certainly one of the best equilibrists ever seen on this stage. He makes a good showing and holds the interest of his audience. The trick of balancing himself on the billiard cues was loudly applauded, as was also the finishing feat when he uses an illuminated series of pedestals. The latter got a good hand and justified his place on the bill. Closed strong. JORDAN & HARVEY, the two Israelites:- 16 min. in 1. 2 shows. One impersonates a rich East Side Jew and the other his poor and despised neighbor. Has a good deal of amusing talk. The close with two songs won big applause and a curtain call. Their work is very true to Hebrew character, and there is absolutely nothing in it that would offend. It would go better with evening audiences, I think. FRED KARNO'S LONDON COMEDY COMPANY,"Mumming Birds":20 min. F.S. 2 shows. This is a stage within a stage comedy feature on the regulation British style of humor. There is a good deal in it that is rather coarse in its spiri of fun, but the majority of the audience seemed to think it was a tremendous scream. There is certainly enough diversity about it to hold anybody's attention. It comprises the bum male quartette and the Music Hall singer, the fake "Terrible Turk", etc. The mixing in of the supposed audience in the boxes is irresistably funny. This is such a new kind of fun for our audience that I am anxious to see how it will take with the evening audiences. If laughter and applause is any criterion, they certainly approved of the sketch mightily to-day, for although it was one of the hottest days of the year, the crowd forgot everything.
