73 73. (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of July 23, 1906 Fadettes, 2 shows, 55 min. full stage -- The usual new program of selections, many of them excellent but others of too classical a nature; the last few being of such a popular variety as to send them off to big applause. Josie and Willie Barrows, 3 shows, 8 min. in 1 -- Singers and dancers. As vocalists, very poor; their dancing is quite good. They do not put enough "ginger" into the act for this spot, and if anything develops later on, I will shift them around. Bean and Hamilton, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage -- Two men, one working straight and the other in eccentric makeup, barrel jumpers. The comedian does not amount to much, but the jumper is quite good, but not up to LePage. Fair act from the 3-a-day standpoint. LeRoy and Woodford, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1 -- Conversational comedians. Well-known on the circuit. The same line of material they had here on their last trip, and went satisfactorily in this spot. Gus Edwards' Boys and Girls, 2 shows, 27 min. full stage -- close in 1 -- Presenting the well-known musical comedy, "Primary No. 23". Too well-known to need description from me. I think they are too prone to give encores when they are hardly called for, and this drags the first portion of the act considerably. Their close 1, with a hurdy-gurdy and dancing carries the act off to big applause, although the greater part of it came from the balconies, and as that seems to have been the case in some of the other houses, I doubt not but what they were "ringers". Just about gets by in this spot today. Coins' Dogs, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage -- Have been described in other houses. It is an excellent imitation of Merians' and they got big applause in this spot today. Good act. Winona Winter, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- She started off very slow indeed, her first songs getting scarcely a hand. The imitation of Vernon, however, went big, and sent her off in excellent shape. Beduini and Arthur, 2 shows, 19 min. full stage, close in 1 -- Got quite an advance reception, and went with laughter and applause throughout. I think Bedini is getting a little careless and also the act is hurt by his talk. I believe the act is best without any talk. Josselyn Trio, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage -- Two women, and a man, in some quite pretty posings in the air on horizontal bars and ropes. It is apart from the usual run of acrobatic acts we play here, and as a consequence, it went very well with a dull audience. I do not think it is good to close the bill with, however, and were it possible, I would move it up.
