85. AUGUST 20, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C. E. BARNS. MARSHALL & LORAINE, "Rag Time Liz, Queen of the Bowery":-16 min. F.S. close in 1. 3 shows. Man and woman both working eccentric. The sketch is incoherent but it contains some good Bowery tough comedy and got a good many gallery laughs. The musical work is pretty good and the hand they got was fair. this is not an opening feature and seems to belong a little further down the bill. It got by all right. AUSTIN WALSH, and his sight-seeing auto:- 15 min. F.S.:- 3 shows. For the afternoon performance we did not have a sterioptican for Walsh, so we had to ask him to do a monologue instead. This went fairly well. We will have everything right for the automobile feature for night show. DUDLEY, CHESLYN * BURNS;-Comedians and Vocalists:- 16 min. F.S. close in 1. 3 shows. Two men and a woman, one working eccentric. A rambling light Summer sketch which is an excuse for some good singing and comedy. The musical numbers got a good hand. The closing feature brought them 2 curtain calls. DONAT BEDINI, and dog "Tim":-8min. in 2. 3 shows. works eccentric. Man is a very good acrobat and the dog is certainly remarkably well trained. The various stunts received good applause. The finish was really big for that kind of an act. ROONEY SISTERS, Singing and Dancing:- 12 min. in 1. 2 shows. Two very pretty girls who have a good selection of songs, and sing and dance with sprightliness and charm. A sister-act that is very much all right. The dancing at the close scored big. STINE & EVANS, "Wanted a Divorce":- 14 min. F.S. 2 shows. Man and woman. Slight sketch which gives an opportunity for a lot of amusing nonsense in lines and singing, as well as dancing. Feature went very well, particularly with the gallery. SPOOK MINSTRELS:-20 min. in 1. 2 shows. Gives a very novel effect with the biograph, although the pictures were not particularly brilliant or distinct, and the act would be much improved with better pictures. The vocal work of the Quintette is nothing short of splendid. They received a big hand for each one of the selections, particularly those after their moving-picture part of the act. Received three encores and two curtain calls at the close. They make a very fine appearance in their white sating costumes, O.K. JUNIE MC CREE & COMPANY, "The Man from Denver":- 25 min. F.S. in 1,-then close F.S. 2 shows. This is one of the best sketches we have played here for a very long time. Mc Cree is certainly a genius of character and quaint humor. The action turns on the necessity of a woman procuring a husband within a few hours time in order to save herself from the vengeance of a discarded lover. The interest was sustained throughout. The finish was big. Three curtain calls. McCree's support is all to be desired. promising, but his imitations of Hogan and Bert Williams are very well done. Stereopticon: On at 5.27. 10 min. This week's trip is through Norway. Quite seasonable. Comment:- The show runs very well including a number of excellent features and affords and interesting entertainment for this season of the year.
