95 TEMPLE THEATER, DETROIT, MICH., AUG. 27, 1906. COMMENT-The bill this week is the strongest seen here in many months. The performance goes with a zip and snap that is refreshing and there is not a dull moment from overture to kinetograph. Catherine Hayen and Sabel Johnson came near cancelling on account of being billed fourth but they are happy now as the newspapers raved over them. J. H. Finn. MAREENA, NEVARO & MAREENA-Fine act for the opening and could stand a better place on the bill, but there is no other place for them on the bill this week. 10 min. FS. OLLIVOTTA TROUBADOURS-Two men, one violinist, the other playing a guitar-zither instrument. One of the greatest musical acts that ever played this house. 14 min. in one. MARY DUPONT & CO.-Presenting "Left at the Boat." Dupont never had a sketch that fit her like this does. It is a knockout from the moment she steps on the stage until the curtain. Her support could hardly be improved upon. 18 min. FS. YOUNG & DeVOIE-The neatest dancing sketch that comes this way. Not as showy as the Four Fords, but dainty and deucedly clever. Kathleen DeVoie is fully as clever as her predecessor Bessie DeVoie. 6 min. with plush in two, 5 min. in one. CATHERINE HAYES & SABEL JOHNSON-This singing, comedy and illustrated sketch got a tremendous ovation at the close. It is good enough for headline position in most any theater. Opens with a parlor setting, women in gorgeous gowns, goes to kinetograph pictures, and closes in one with women in childrens dresses as they appeared in pictures. 30 min. SAM ELTON-Of course he is good but then most managers know all about the act. 11 min. FS. LEW SULLY-Remarks on Elton will apply to Sully. 22 min. in one. Herbert's dogs-Very good act. 11 min. FS. KINETOGRAPH-"Scenes in Burmah" in a corking good film showing many different phases of Indian life." Well worth writing for.
