96 Report on vaudeville show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., week of September 3, 1906. (Charles Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill plays very well and I think will give good satisfaction throughout the week although it has not any particularly strong drawing power. It is hard to get a line on the acts to-day, because of the holiday audiences with whom everything made a hit, but I will give the report as I think it will be taken by our regular patrons. James A. Dunn. Mimic. Imitator or [of] birds, animals, etc. A little act that is all right in the 3-a-day section and at the price. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. Rado & Bertman. Singing and dancing sketch well known on the circuit, which has little to recommend it other than the man's contortion dancing, but this is so strong that it makes the act quite acceptable in an early spot. 18 min. in 3, 3 shows. Josie Allen. Mimic. This young woman didn't come up to my expectations altho she is not bad; however I think $50.00 would be ample for her. She lacks finish; her imitations are not particularly good. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. The Auto Four. This act, I had the impression was "a comedy singing act" but it proved to be a "straight" one and while all right for the 3-a-day portion of the bill, it would not be worth consideration for anything more important. They got by fairly well. 15 min. in 2, could do the act in one, by running the piano out front. Delton Bros. Didn't get on the first show; will give a report later. Jeanne Ardelle & PICKS. This act was an agreeable surprise. There had been so much said about her singing that I looked for something pretty bad, and she certainly sings better than Maybe Remington with the same kind of an act, Picks also harmonize well; it is a good lively act and made quite a hit. Thoroughly safe in any bill up to 8.30 and could go lower on a pinch. Great value for the money 13 min. open and close in 1, 3 shows. Monroe, Mack & Lawrence. In "The Servant Girl Question." A great laughing horse-play act. Monroe does some good comedy work and the situations are very funny, went with a scream. 17 min. full stage, 2 shows. Maybelle Adams. Violiniste. I was better impressed with this ladies playing at rehearsal than I was at the show. Her violin seemed to be out of tune or her intonation was bad, don't know which; probably she will remedy this later, however I hardly think the act is worth the money it is getting by $25.00 and would like it better if she appeared in pretty costume than in the ragged dress which lends it no character whatever, considering the class of music which she plays. 13 min. in 1, 2 shows. Clara Beasy. Trained cats, doing about the same work that Techow's cats did and which are fully as good, and I like it better being presented by a woman. 12 min. full stage, 2 shows. Walter C. Kelly. Giving us a lot of new characters in his familiar court-room scene. One of the best monologue acts in the business. 18 min. in 1, 2 shows.
