104 104 (handwritten) SEPTEMBER 10:1906. HPILADELPHIA SHOW. C. F. BARNS. MR. & MRS W.W.O'BRIEN,:-18 min. in 2. 3 shows. Might have been in 1 just as well as 2. Make only a passable presentation. Their talk is weak and received coldly. Their singing is a little bit better and got a fair hand. Most of the talk is a roast on women, with nothing to relieve it, and not bright at that. Got by with very small credit and act could never hold a better place with that line of goods. REEVES & KENNEY, Song and Dance:- 14 min. in 1. 3 shows. (Substituted for HARRY BURGOYNE). Fairly good line of songs, but the dancing is far better, particularly the English and Irish national dances. Their jokes are very chestnutty. They have no personality to carry a stronger place on the bill. Close was good for this sort of an act after their dancing duo. CHERRY & BATES, Comedy Cyclists:- 19 min.F.S. 3 shows. One works straight in a fetching athletic costume, and the other eccentric. Comedy is fairly good and gets a good many laughs. Athletic work on the cycle is A.1., and wind applause, particularly that on the high double pedestal from which the performer rides his wheel down a steep ladder. The double work at the finish is good and got a fine hand. The close was O.K. SADIE JANSELL, Imitator:- 18 min. in 1. 3 shows. This little girl has a good deal of natural ability. She makes a good presentation. Work rather uneven in merit. Includes imitations of Maude Adams, Besta Tilley, Vesta Victoria, and others. There is a good deal of vivacity and sparkle to her work and she got a very good hand for each one of the imitations. That of Eddie Foy is a little coarse, as is also that of Vesta Tilley. She got a good hand at the finish and a curtain call. Her method is new, and she will certainly get better places on the bill if she continues along her original lines, as she undoubtedly has talent. MARZELO & MILLAY, Comedy Bar-act:- 12 min. F.S, 3 shows. Two men, both working eccentric on a double bar and mat. They were the laughing hit of the show up to this time. Both are experts on the horizontal bar and do new tricks, but the principal interest is in the comedy work, which, while rather slow in action is full of little surprises and kept the audience in continual good humor. The children's laughter was especially pronounced. The burlesque wrestling is a new idea and whereas it also lacked rapidity of action, neverthless it was genuinely funny. These people are O.K. for this place on the bill, although it would never do as a closer, as they are not on to the American idea of swift work. A valuable importation, nevertheless. Received two curtain calls. TOM MOORE,"Coon Shouter":- 13 min. in 1. 2 shows. Big advance applause, which shows he is a favorite here. Each one of his coon songs got a big hand. The songs are well selected and full of real fun. Held down this place splendidly. Rousing hand at the close and three curtain calls. (under page) ...just as big a card as ever. On his waltz song he won out even better than last week, taking five curtain calls. He is certainly "the goods" here. THE FOUR HARVEYS:-Wire-act:-20 min. F.S. 2 shows. Second week. Did not vary their act, but they went quite as strong as during the previous week. Justified former criticism. Believe they will draw money to the house. KINETOGRAPH:- ARRIVAL OF COL. WM JENNINGS BRYAN: This is an interesting and timely film. JAPAN RAPIDS ON RIVER OZO:- Very pretty foreign series. KATHLEEN MAVOURNEEN:- Same dramatic series as last week. THREE AMERICAN BEAUTIES:- Described before.-
