106 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of September 10,, 1906. (Chas. Lovenberg, Manager.) The show in its entirety is exceptionally good and I will be greatly surprised if we don't do a big week's business as it contains all the elements of drawing money. The small end of the show is so good that it is worth mentioning especially; there is only one act that really fell down. Roltare. Magician. Well known on the circuit-who does a clever act and who could stand a little more important spot on the bill. 17 min. in 2, could work in 1, 3 shows. Brooks & Vedder. This is a better act than I expected to see, most of the comedy is done by the girl and they got quite a number of laughs; and went off to good applause. 14 min. in 3. The act could open in 2, and close in one very easily and is strong enough to go on towards two o'clock. 3 shows. Maceo & Fox. Man and woman, colored, the woman amounts to very little, the man is an eccentric dancer and while the act opened rather tamely, closed strongly. All right for the 3-a-day section. 12 min. in 1, 3 shows. Werden & Gladdish. Illustrated songs. These men have the finest stereopticon pictures I ever saw, for coloring; they also introduce some little mechanical effects with it. Very beautiful act. 15 min. inl, 2 shows. T. J. Keough & Co. This is the poorest act on the bill, including all the three a day acts. The man makes some quick changes, but the sketch is bad and the characters poorly played. I wouldn't want it again. 22 min. in 3, 2 shows. PHAYS Introduction. At this point the Phays distributed the cards or slips of paper rather, among the audience to have questions written upon, occupying 7 min. time in 1. Flood Brothers. One of the funniest acrobatic comedy acts we have had in a long time and they do some good acrobatic work as well. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. The Cartmells. These people open with two men, a Jew and a Negro, with some funny talk in one, followed by the original team in a song and dance, also in one, occupying about eight minutes, then they open to full stage and have a little sketch, singing and dancing, concluding with short dance in one, by two, then by the four. The comedy, while not great, is all right and got considerable laughter. The dancing is especially good and on the whole, I would say that we are getting the act for about $25. less than it is worth and I am thoroughly satisfied. 20 min. open in one and close in one, 2 shows.
