112 New York Criticism--September 17th, 1906 MORTON, TEMPLE & MORTON: Well known. comedy in the act got some few laughs with a little applause for the acrobatic work. Act does not seem to improve any. Just about got by in this place. 16 min.-full stage- 3 shows ROLTARE: This man has greatly improved since last here. He was watched with great interest. Received quite a good lot of applause on his finish. 17 min. in two-3 shows SADIE JANSELL: This young lady will improve by work. Some of her imitations were exceptionally good, while the others just about passed. However, it is a pleasing little three-show act, and should make good all over the circuit. 17 min. in one DEMOINO & BELLE: Man and woman. Man works in eccentric character while the woman makes a pleasing appearance. Act consists of eccentric dancing and contortion work, high-kicking, banjo and cornet solos. The musical part of the act does not amount to much, while the high-kicking, contortion work and eccentric dancing received a fairly good lot of applause. Act is pleasing and thoroughly alright for the three-show section. 15 min.- full stage (Can close in one) 3 shows ED. GRAY: I think this man went stronger to-day than at any time before. Some of his material is new, quite funny, and brought forth an abundance of applause. His old material he has changed around and it went very nicely. Act is always valuable and could be placed further down in the bill. 17 min. in one- 3 shows REDFORD & WINCHESTER: Well known. Juggling end of this act has improved a little with some new business added. Entire act was laughed at throughout and finished to big lot of applause. 15 min.-full stage- 2 shows NED NYE & HIS ROLLICKING GIRLS AND REID SISTERS: While this act pleased and the Jury passed it, it is far from being up to the standard of acts of this nature, it having the atmosphere of roughness. He has added the Reid Sisters in place of the Misses DeArville, who are quite clever in acrobatic and soft-shoe dancing, and are the strongest feature of the act. The voices of the other four just about got by. Act is getting entirely too much money. 24 min.-full stage- closed in one about 3 min. WILLIS FAMILY: Well trained musicians. All of the various numbers went very strong,-some being encored. For their encore in one-, they offered a banjo quartet on the style of the Mile-Stavordale Quintet, which went exceptionally strong. 21 min.-full stage-closed in one about 3 min.-- RICE & ELMER: To my surprise this act held its own this afternoon. Received quite a number of laughs for the comedy and a big lot of applause for the bar work. 12 min.-full stage- 2 shows FRED & PAULY: American Debut. Equilibrists. 2 men. Pleasing personality. Work in full dress. Act consists of equilibristic work and ring-balancing. They opened the act with one hand balancing on canes, back of chairs, etc, closing with some very good head-to-head balancing, and finishing with ring-balancing with one finger. Closed to big applause. 10 min.-full stage KINETOGRAPH: "Anything for Peace and Quietness" Baby picture. Quite amusing. Appealing to the women. "The Hundred Tricks" Very good "Marble Industry in Carrara" Very interesting "Two Mischievous Boys" Good comedy
