118 Temple theater, Detroit, Mich., Sept. 24, 1906. J. H. Finn. M'LLE NADJI. Pretty, slender woman in wonderful feats of athletics. Walks up and down flight of stairs on her hands and executes some other feats of ground tumbling of more than ordinary merit. It is a very good act. 9 min. FS. THE BAILEYS John and Ray again scored big with our audiences. They brought new material including new songs, and were received almost as well as any act on the bill. Their shadow danced called for 3 curtains. 14 min. in one. O'BRIEN HAVEL. Assisted by Effie Lawrence in the old comedy skit "Ticks and Clicks," he was received with howls of laughter. Although this act has been seen here a number of times it seems to have lost none of its mirth-provoking qualities, and no act on the bill got more laughs. 20 min. FS. SISTERS MEREDITH. These tinge girls appear in a series of characters, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese and Indian, the latter being by far the best. I do not think their new characters are as good as their old, but the girls are to be commended for the way they put it on. 12 min. Do not close in one. HAWTHORNE & BURT. One in Hebrew the other straight. Their patter is good and their dancing is all right. On a weaker bill they would stand out pretty strong but as it is they class with the "also rans." 14 min. in one. WALTER JONES & MABEL HITE. One of the best acts ever staged in this theater. Mabel Hite is without doubt the cleverest comedienne we ever had here and Walter Jones is a good foil for her. The act made a tremendous hit. In fact Miss Hite was a scream and had the audience going from the start. 22 min. FS. 2 in one. THE CUTTYS. These brothers and sisters gave us some new musical selections and were received with the same demonstration of approval as on former occasions. They would improve their act considerably if they would invest in some new costumes as the old ones are getting rather shabby. 14 FS. 4 in one. WATSON'S FARMYARD CIRCUS. This act was a scream, but I am of the opinion that the novelty will wear off with this engagement as it is an act that everybody remembers. It is the same as seen here before. 16 min. FS. KINETOGRAPH. The Carrara marble quarries of Italy is a very good film, but the comedy picture that follows does not amount to much. However the bill as a whole was a happy selection for the opening of our winter season.
