138 Boston Show, Week of Oct. 15, 1906. (Carl D. Lothrop) Chris Smith and the 2 Johnsons. Three shows. On at 1 o'clock, 12 min, full stage, 4 min in 1, 16 in all. A very good coon act for the money, could stand a better place in the bill; fair singers and good dancers. Adair & Dahn. On at 1.16, 12 min, full stage. A corking good wire act, one of the best three-a-day acts I know. With more elaborate apparatus and a little more of the European style, this act would be getting double its present money. Belle Veola, On at 1.28, 11 min, in 1. A good three-a-day, Her song does not amount to very much, but her contortion work is excellent. She makes a very attractive stage appearance. Arlington Four. On at 1.39, 17 min, in 1. Three shows. These youngsters are doing remarkably well here. The comedian of the team has the making of a great performer. Their dancing is immense, but their vocal work could be improved considerably. Lowell & Lowell. On at 1,56, 11 min, full stage. A comedy acrobatic act that is OK. They do a lot of new stuff and are busy every minute they are on the stage. Could hold a much better position on the bill. The Mysterious Howards. On at 2.07, 16 min, full stage. A great thought transmission act. They are going immense. Would like to have them further down the bill, but it was an impossibility with the show we have. This act cannot work in 1, on account of their methods. Motion Pictures, Vanderbilt Cup Race, 5 min. An excellent film; is making a hit. The part of it showing the turn holds the audience spellbound. Wylie's Dogs. On at 2.28, 10 min, full stage. This act is proving itself worthy of the good things said about it last week. World & Kingston. On at 2.38, 6 min in 1, 12 min full stage, close 8 min in 1, 26 min in all. This act is living up to its past record, in this house. Exposition Four. On at 3.10, 15 min, full stage, 4 min in 1, 19 min in all. A quartet of remarkably versatile musicians who can also sing and dance. It is rather a novel and easily makes good. Morris Cornin & Troupe. On at 3.23, 14 min, full stage. This act is going even better than last week, as it has a better position on the bill. It is one of the most novel juggling acts of the day. George Evans. On at 3.37, 21 min, in 1. It would be hard to name a monologuist who has anything on Evans. His stuff is uptodate, and he works in many locals. He could have done 30 min. with ease, but I wanted him to save whatever he could this week, as we have an extremely long bill.
