140 Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of October 22, 1906. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) This is an exceedingly good show and with BUSTER GABRIEL as a drawing feature, it ought to get considerable money. The 3-a-day section is exceptionally good, the rest thoroughly satisfactory excepting in a couple of instances. Ed Foster & Dog "Wise Mike." Well-known little act which went as well as usual. 15 min. in 1, 3 shows. The Mozarts. Dutch sketch, singing and dancing specialties. All right for an early 3-a-day spot. 15 min. in 3, could close in 1, 3 shows, 3. Bernier & Stella. This is an act that I tried out in Pawtucket a couple of weeks ago and it is more than making good for this place. The man has a very good voice, the woman's fairly good, - she is lively and bright and altogether makes a very good 3-a-day act. At AR they should be booked in all the continuous houses and in the small theatres, if they are looking for something to make good for small money. 15 min. in 1, 3 shows. Prampin Trio. Colored, two men and a woman. Straight musical act, something of a novelty which opens very well indeed, but flattens out towards the end. All right from a 3-a-day standpoint, and worth playing. 15 min. open in three, close in one, 3 shows. Alexander. Female impersonator. Came to town yesterday, and this morning I found a postal card on my desk saying that he was off for New York. He made no attempt to notify me yesterday that he wasn't going to be here, and I pressed Foster and Dog into service who are playing Pawtucket, using them in both houses. Belle Veola. Singer, dancer and contortionist. Very bright snappy act, thoroughly all right for an early place in the 2-a-day section. 9 min. in 1, 3 shows. Fred & Paulay. Equilibrists and gymnasts. I don't think a great deal of this act neither did the audience. At the price it might be considered all right, but we are turning down lots of better acts who are willing to do three shows a day. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. World & Kingston. Same act they have always presented which went very well indeed. Open in one, go to full stage, close in one. 25 min. in all, 2 shows. Mr. & Mrs. Gene Hughes. Comedy sketch, dramatic. These people have a very good vehicle indeed and the woman plays very well. Mr. Hughes is not good, and his support gets by with what little he has to do. Act is all right at the price. 23 min. 2 shows. Toby Claude. This little woman went first rate this afternoon and am going to give her a little harder place tonight. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows. Bailey & Austin. These men got a number of laughs, but not for the money they are getting. Salary is at least $100. more than they are worth, from any standpoint whatever. There isn't an original idea in the act and in order to get started they have had the entire vaudeville profession to crib from and have got almost everybody's stuff in theirs. 10 min. full stage, do a 3 min. close in one which is better eliminated, 2 shows. Dog. 22 min. full stage, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. Had no opportunity to see to-day.
