145 TEMPLE THEATRE, Detroit, Mich., Oct. 29, 1906. COMMENT-This show was on the whole quite disappointing, the only heart laugh being the Simon-Gardner act which has appeared here on several occasions. J. H. Finn. NESSEN, HUNTER & NESSEN,- Very good comedy club juggling act to open the show but hardly strong enough to go far down in a bill. 9 min. FS. ASHER & PATTERSON,- Formerly Larkins & Patterson. Asher is one of the best buck dancers we ever had but that lets him out. 12 min. in one. THE FOUR NIGHTONS,- Gymnasts and poseurs. This is a very good act of its kind but not strong enough to occasion talk. 9 min. FS. TOBY CLAUDE,- Miss Claude made an emphatic hit, in strong contract to her last appearance here. She now appears in beautiful gowns instead of the grotesque Katie Barry make-up as formerly. She sang four songs and went away to lots of applause. 17 min. with plush. Close in one. NED NYE & ROLLICKING GIRLS,- This "girl" act is quite inferior to either "The Crickets," or Dan Burke's School Girls, and I was greatly disappointed as I had been led to believe it was a good act. Cut the very vulgar gag of Nye "That scar is a bird mark; I received it on the lake shore." 22 min. FS. "THE PHAYS,-" Two men and a woman, assisted by a half dozen people occupying free seats in the audience. This act may be all right for Detroit if Anna Eva Fay, or The Fays, had appeared here recently but as it is considerable over two years since Anna Eva Fay was here and as The Fays have never been here, the people have evidently lost interest in them. The newspapers that wrote up Anna Eva Fay at so much a line do not care to have it recalled that they pretended to be fooled by her trickery. In closing the show with the expose "The Phays" worked amateurishly and many people went out before it was over. 29 min. FS. LOUIS SIMON & GRACE GARDNER,- Presenting their old sketch "The New Coachman." Although this act has been seen here four times it was the only act on the bill that got hearty laughter. 27 min. FS. JAMES HARRIGAN,- He gave us the same old stuff but did not appear to get away with it as well as formerly. 17 min. in one. KINETOGRAPH,-"A Race for a Wife" is practically the same picture as "The Vanderbilt Cup race, as both were over the same course.
