2.-Phila. RAY COX, Southern Comedienne:- 16 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:30. Songs and imitations. Well received. Miss Cox makes a very pleasing appearance, being a tall, though a little ungainly, nevertheless a very beautiful woman, with a very original way. Some of her work is rather uneven, and there were times when she quite lost her audience. But she gathered them back again and closed strong, with a curtain call. One of her songs, "Love me in the Ordinary Way" is a gem, and she sang the old chestnut, "Nobody" in a way that was irresistible, and got a big hand. Close O.K. SEYMOUR & HILL, Acrobatic Comedy:-14 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:46. Man and woman, man working eccentric and woman straight. Practically the same act as played here before, but nevertheless went just as big. The acrobatic work is very good. Closed very strong with two curtain calls. DAVE LEWIS, German Comedian:- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:00. Well known on the Circuit. Small advance applause. This was a case of getting the audience and losing them again, and getting them and finally losing with a weak finish. Some of the songs were new and good, but the majority of the work was not. He may pull up later, but he does not look like a nine o'clock winner just now. MR. ARNOLD DALY, "How He Lied to Her Husband":-28 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:15. This is one of the most brilliant one-act plays ever written. It simply sparkles from beginning to end. The types are not such as Americans are familiar with, but the handling of the theme is masterly, and Daly and his support get all there is out of it. It is a sure winner. Of course, those who have not seen "Candida" do not catch on as easily as those who have, but the idea is soon obvious, and before the comedy is half over, the audience is entirely the actors'. The laughs are constant, though not uproarous, yet entirely appreciative. Good advance hand and a finish that was very big. This act will certainly draw box business during its engagement, particularly with the evening audiences. As a business-getter it is an ideal feature with which to follow LANGTRY. CLIFFORD & BURKE, Singing and Dancing:- 16 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:44. This is practically the same act as was given here before. Two men, one working straight and the other blackface comedy, well known to all Vaudeville patrons. Soon had the house with them, and held them. Close strong, with a curtain call. O'MEERS SISTERS, Wire-act:- 10 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:00. Two very prettily dressed young ladies, making a very stunning stage picture. Their work is highly expert and wins constant applause. The finish was strong. One of the best closing acts that we have had for some time. KINETOGRAPH: HONEYMOON TRIP TO NIAGARA FALLS: Interesting and in some parts amusing pictures, making good finish. Film that will be talked about. REBELLIOUS WALKING-STICK: Good comedy series. Altogether the KINETOGRAPH feature is a little above the standard this week. about the success of this engagement and especially valuable in following LANGTRY, by bringing back many new patrons whom LANGTRY brought to the house for the first time. The weather is ideal and the business accordingly. F.E.J.
