175 NOVEMBER 19, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. THE GAGNOUX, Jugglers:- 12 min. F. S. 3 shows. On at 6:35. Man and woman, making a good presentation. Have a number of feats that are quite spectacular and new, though by no means difficult. The paraphernalia, which is the major portion of the act, is nevertheless carefully constructed, displaying good showman's appreciation of requirements. Makes a good opener. The audience liked it and gave it frequent hand. Close was good. CORBLEY & CONLEY, "Piker and Sport":- 13 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:47. How these people ever got on with this act is a mystery, in spite of all MORNING TELEGRAPH paid-per-line booming. In the first place, a racing act is not understood or liked here, and in the second place, Conley, as an actor, is the rankest sort of a citron, having neither voice, presence, lines or anything professional, to recommend him to a sceneshifter's sociable. There were very few laughs, and the close was lamentably weak. THE HEALYS, Vocal and Piano:- 15 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:00. This is another act that was a distinct falldown. The singing is of the most mediocre sort, and the piano playing likewise. Not an act that would hold a good place in a three-a-day section. They belong back in the Dime Museum. THE CRAIGS, Entertainers:- 10 min. in 2. 3 shows. On at 7:15. Man and woman who make a fair showing, being well dressed, and their instruments are quite unique, including bells, Dulcimer, sleigh-bells and gourd, though not played with any particular skill. Received good hand for each selection, and one encore. Fair close for this sort of an act. THREE FUNNY MITCHELLS, Singing and Dancing:- 17 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:30. Well known on the circuit. Woke up the house from the first, the audience being ready for anything new. Songs were good and the dancing likewise. A.1. for this spot on the bill. Closed strong with three curtain calls. MLLE NADJI, Contortioniste:- 9 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:47. All that has been said of the wonderful work of this little woman is not in the least exaggerated. It is not only marvellously clever in every detail, but it is artistic, well costumed and presented, making a very pretty picture in her poses. Each one of her feats received a strong hand. Close was big for this sort of an act, with two curtain calls. DAISY DUMONT, Vocaliste- 9 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:56. Makes a charming appearance and her selection of songs is good, though she lacks voice. Is good for two and possibly three numbers, but no more. She pleases, but will never create a furor. Close was fairly good. CHAS. BRADSHAW, "Am I a Mason":- 26 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 8:05. This farce has much good material in it, but did not go as smoothly as it should have done. The work of Bradshaw is good, that of McIntyre fair, likewise that of Miss Carlisle, whereas the important part of Mrs. Biff,(taken by Miss Matthews
