177. Cleveland Show Week November 26, 1906. (H. A. DANIELS) TEXARKANA & WALBY-- Two girls. Singing and dancing specialties. Three changes of costume. The singing doesn't amount to much. The dancing carries the act. Good applause for an opening act 11 min. drop in two. ADAMS & MACK-- Two men, straight man and comedy assistant in burlesque magic. It is a good act in a small way for they attempt nothing of a pretentious nature and what they do do they manage to do well. Special drop in one. 14 min. DURAND TRIO-- Three men. Vocalists. Make three changes of costume. They did very well and they will be put down on the spot now occupied by Sidman & Shannon. Drop in one. 12 min. THOMAS J. KEOGH & CO-- Protean sketch entitled "The Way He Won her." Following Mr. & Mrs. Gardner Crane & Co. last week this act did not lume up very well. Keogh is assisted by a girl. This act played the Lyric theatre for 10c last year and made an awful hit. It is just about good enough to open the show with in this house. The girl makes an attempt to sing and that is about the worst thing in the act. C.D.F. in three. 23 minutes. GEORGE WILSON-- Minstrel monologue. for some unknown reason he didn't seem to land them today very hard. I think they were tired and restless after the Keogh act and they wanted to see something doing rather than listen to fifteen minutes more of talk. Drop in one. 16 min. FRED WALTON-- The Toy Soldier. Sketch entitled "Ciccie's Dream" This act is so well known in the East that it needs no detailed criticism. It is really the only act in the show this week, and the rest of the stuff in comparison looks very weak. If we do any business at all this is the answer. Special set F. S. 33 minutes. SIDMAN & SHANNON-- Two men, talking act in one entitled "The Astrologer". This is about the most impossible act for this spot that it has ever been my misfortune to witness. Sidman is a Cleveland boy and a great many of his friends in the audience gave him an advance hand. I guess most of them were sorry before the act was finish They carry their own drop, which is about the worst excuse for a piece of scenery that we have ever had in the theatre. This might be a good act for the olio of some burlesque show, but I can't for the life of me see how they ever landed in the hard spot in one on the Keith circuit. When it comes to a show-down, the strength of the act depends on throwing stereoptican views of President Roosevelt (Hurah), Dave Warfield, etc., etc., on a moon painted on the drop. This clever conception may be able to hold some audiences in their seats at 10:15 on a cold night, but not in Cleveland. Drop in one. 19 min. BERTHOLDI'S COCKATOOS & PARROTS-- A very pretty trained bird act. Has previously been described at length. Aside from Fred Walton this is the only real act we have in the show this week. F. S. 8 min. KINETOGRAPH-- A Honeymoon Trip to Niagara. A beautiful film showing different views of Niagara Falls.
