178. NOVEMBER 28, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. THE MOZARTS, sing. and dancing:- 15 min. in 2. close in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:29. This is only a fair opener. The principal feature in the act is the closing part in which there was some novelty dancing with very long shoes. Just about got by with fair close. THE BARTELMES, 11 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:44. Nice little sight-act, the woman doing some fairly good acrobatic stunts, and making good presentation, the man being quite expert in balancing. Tricks received a fair hand, and closed well. Held down the place. SCOTT & WHALEY, Colored comedians:- 17 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:56. Two men, These people were quite a surprise for the excellency of their work. There is genuine comedy in one of the coons, and it is really worthy of a better spot on the bill. Altogether in the three-a-day section is makes good. The lines were bright and the dancing is above the standard. The close was strong, with two curtain calls. COGAN & BANCROFT, Roller skating comedians:- 11 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:12. Two men, one working straight and the other eccentric. Begin the act with a little talking, which is amusing, a little singing, and knock-about fun. Proceed to the roller-skating part which is very good and particularly timely just now, as there is a good deal of interest in this sport. One of them is particularly expert, and altogether the act is very satisfactory. Close was good. O'BRIEN & BUCKLEY, Cyclone of Fun:- 17 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:29. This is really a very good three-a-day act. The man works eccentric and the woman straight, and they have a very good line of talk. There was constant laughter but the close was only fairly good. The instrumental work on the cornet and the alto-horn being below the standard of the act. It is all right for an early spot. These clever people ought to have something better to offer to place them in the two-a-day section where they belong. BLOCKSOM & BURNS, comedy:- 14 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 7:46. (Did not close in 1, as usual and as they did before, as it was not necessary)-Well known on the Circuit. Act did not vary from last appearance here, but went quite as strong. It is a very good act for the holiday crowd, as it plays strongly to the gallery. Closed very well. JOHN D. GILBERT, Monologue:- 10 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:00. Well known on the Circuit. Only a fair line of humor, the chief interest of his work is his facial expressions which are varied and genuinely funny. His line of talk was rather uneven, but he managed to get good many laughs and the finish after the burlesque opera was very good. Not as strong in this spot as we expected. good. Think it will make good with our box crowd for the rest of the week. CARSON & WILLARD, "Frizzled Finance":- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:40. This is rather a quick return for this act, the previous appearance being in the middle of August. However, it is one of the best, if not the best Dutch team in Vaudeville. There were very few variations from the act as presented here before. Received advance applause, and won lots of laughs throughout, with a strong close. desirable program on account of the holiday week, as there is plenty of comedy which appeals to the masses. Thanksgiving Day and the two days following will bring thousands of people to the theatre who come only rarely and we feel sure that they will carry away a good impression of the KEITH show, from this bill.
