190 Boston Show, Week of Dec. 3, 1906 (Carl D. Lothrop) Frederick. On at 1 o'clock, 12 min, in 1, 3 shows. Frederick is a very handy man to have around. He does a very good sleight-of-hand specialty and can give anywhere from ten minutes to an hour. Can make good in any of the three-a-day houses. Cogan & Bancroft. On at 1.12, 10 min, full stage, 3 shows. This act is all right as a 3-a-day and would do as an opening act in the smaller 2-a-day houses. The revival of the roller-skating craze helps their act to a great extent. Althea Twins. On at 1.22, 8 min, in 1, 3 shows. A stereotyped acrobatic dancing act by two rather good-looking girls. Act is well-known on the circuit. Hardly strong enough for a better place on the bill. McCrea & Poole. On at 1.30, 10 min, full stage, 3 shows. It is a pity that somebody does not take hold of this act and make a feature out of it. The man who does the shooting to my mind has all of the other rifle-shots beaten quite a distance. No feat seems too difficult for him to accomplish, but the act lacks costuming a swell stage outfit. Pearl Danforth: On at 1.40, 9 min, in 1, 3 shows. Rather a pretty girl, with very little voice, but she dances fairly well. I cannot recommend the act for circuit booking. Mlle. Nadje. On at 1.49, 8 min, full stage. She makes a good appearance, and does some very clever feats in hand-balancing and contortion. In some way or other, I got the idea that she did trapeze work and billed her accordingly. The act will make good in an early spot on any bill, although it will never cause a sensation. Tom Moore. On at 1.57, 11 min, in 1, 3 shows. Moore is well-known all over the circuit, and always makes good. He is not going so very well this week, for the reason, I think, that the coon-song craze is about over. Van Cleve, Wentworth & "Pete". On at 2.08, 13 min, full stage. Two comedians and an excellent trick donkey. They get a number of laughs and 1 consider the act a fine one to amuse the youngsters. Sharp Bros. On at 2.21, 11 min, in 1. These boys are inclined to be very swell-headed and disagreeable. From what I have seen and heard of them, they are apparently looking for trouble all the time. Their singing does not amount to much but their dancing is excellent.Think they should do three-a-day. Murray & Lane. On at 2.3, 20 min, full stage. They are great favourites in Boston, and their act is going very strongly. I am confident their names make a good drawing-card in this house.
