191 NEW YORK CRITICISM---DEC. 10th, 1906. THE HOLDSWORTHS---Man and woman in Banjo Duets, Songs and dances. Neat refined opening act that wen very well. Good three show act. 10 minutes in one. RADO & BERTMAN---Man and woman in a sketch called"The New Girl." Man dances fairly well, but is very amateurish in talking. His contortion work got a good hand. He would be better alone for the woman and sketch were weak. Three shows. 16 minutes, full stage. Close in one. RAMSDELL SISTERS---Two girls, good appearance and personality in songs and dances. Beautifully costumed and several changes; and act went very well. Dancing is not wonderful, but the act is a find at the money. Three shows. 12 minutes in two, could work in one if necessary. SAONA---Man assisted by woman in boys clothes, in impersonations of great men. Here is the best three act i have seen. His work is quick, and in some instances just as artistic as Lees'. 11 minutes, full stage. COLUMBIA COMEDY 4---One of these men was very ill, and I had to cancel them. As it was the act went very well. It is more money than is usually paid for a three show act, but the time must be taken into consideration, and the act is funny and entertaining. 22 minutes in one. HOWARD & BLAND---In a sketch called "The Stage Manager." This is so well known that it hardly needs comment, but the act went very big. Howard's Piano playing was especially good. 26 minutes, full stage. SIX MUSICAL CUTTYS---Another well known act that made a terrific hit. These people stand alone in their work. Their artistic and popular playing is greatly helped by their good looking and young personalities. 23 minutes, full stage. TOM EDWARDS---English ventriloquist. This man is a wonder, and made a big hit. He has hardly as much repose or personality as Prince, and his imitations, though good, are too English. However, it is a great act, and I should think that it would be well to boom him with Prince out of the way. His finish with the baby was a scream, and much funnier than anything Prince did. 30 minutes, full stage. ALICE HOLLANDER--- English Contralto. A woman with a splendid voice who went very well. It is a pleasure to listen to good enunciation after some of the singers we have. Her singing of "The Lost Chord" was especially good. 10 minutes in one. Of course, it is a question as to the salary, but from the way this audience took her act I think she is worth it.
