205 (handwritten) 205 DEC. 24, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E.BARNS. MARR & EVANS, Acro. Com:- 11 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:32. Two men, one working straight and the other eccentric. Makes a fair opener. Work with chairs and pedestals. Various feats received good hand. Some of their stunts were quite new. Finish, after work on high pedestal, was good. ALTHEA TWINS, Sing. & Acro:- 8 min. in 2, close in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:42. Two girls. The acrobatic dancing is all there is to this act, the singing being very mediocre. The work in 1 is the best part of the act and received fair hand. Held down the place very well and got good hand at clos BRAZIL & BRAZIL. Kid Sketch:- 12 min. F. S. 3 shows. On at 6:51. Man and woman, woman working straight and man eccentric. Work with tables, and chairs and do a good many of the regulation gymnastic stunts. Received fair applause. Close good. McGRATH & PAIGE, Banjoists:- 10 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:13. Man and woman. This is a good little act. The banjo work is quite up to the standard and they received an encore and curtain call. McCREA & POOLE, Sharp-shooters:- 9 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:23. Two men appearaing in soldier costume. Mc Crea is certainly a wonder with the rifle, in fact, some of his stunts are as remarkable as those of BORDEVERRY, although he is not so much of a showman, and needs someone to work up some spectacular feature. Every one of his feats got a good hand. The nerve of Poole, allowing himself to be made a target, is almost as amazin as McCrea's shooting This act caught the crowd immensely, and finished with big hand with two curtain calls. BELLONG BROTHERS. Cycle-Balancing:- 12 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 7:37. This is one of the best acrobatic acts in Vaudeville. Make good appearance in athletic costumes. All their stunts show great skill and long training. Their work with bicycles and pedestals and their balancing feats show skill and patience rather then main strength. Caught the crowd very strong Some of the balancing feats on high bicycle are positively thrilling. The Finish of the act is a backward somersault, like that of the BOLLER Bros. Two curtain calls and immense hand. These people are certainly the good in their line. LAUREL MILLARD, Vocaliste:- 12 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 7:49. Makes a very good presentation. Although not pretty, is well dressed and pleasing in manner. Her voice is sweet, though not very powerful. Sings with good effect, and received good hand after each one of her three numbers. ORTH & FERN, "Sign that Book":- 17 min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 8:01.(cl. in 1 Two men, one working straight and the other eccentric messenger-boy. This act was a hit with the Holiday crowd. It consists of singing, trick piano playing and comedy. The comedian kept the audience in roars of laughter. Close was immense, receiving three curtain calls. ........ KINETOGRAPH: STEALING TOMATOES:- Fair French comedy film. CHILDREN'S PETS:- Rather pretty and interesting for the children. NIGHT BEFORE XMAS:- One of the best ever for Xmas week. ....audience to a pitch of enthusiasm where they lift him on their shoulders and parade him before the footlights, as happened last time he was here. However, he may do that yet. One thing is certain, that the newspapers are better disposed toward him and every body seems to think that they must see HOUDINI, in other words, the interest is a healthy one and not such as would be crested by a freak or a clever fakir. Xmas weather is ideal and business immense. F.E.J.- -o- The following cuts and objections were made in our show this week:- JACK WILSON & COMPANY:- Lifting skirt too high. Sticking out tongue. Expression, "My G--".
