211. Boston Show, Week of Oct. 29, 1906. (Carl D. Lothrop) The Mozarts. On at 1 o'clock, 14 min, full stage. Can close in 1 if necessary about 4 min. Fair three-a-day novelty dancing act. Might get by as an opening act in the smaller cities. Special scenery, comedy of little account, big shoe dancing all right. Three Mitchells. On at 1.14, 16 min, in 1. The well-known colored act. They are falling behind the procession. Dancing is fair, but their voices are leaving them. Cherry & Bates. On at 1.30, 21 min, full stage. A good bicycle act. If they condensed their act and worked faster, would be a two-a-day for the earlier section. Their time makes them very valuable among the three-a-day acts. Dave Howlin. On at 1.51, 17 min, in 1. I care very little for the first part of his act. I consider him a good three-a-day act, but not a two-a-day. The recitation with which he finishes his turn goes very well. Violet Black & Co. On at 2.08, 19 min, full stage. Presenting the "sparkling" comedietta "A West Point Regulation". It seems to me as though this bottle had been opened too early and had been allowed to stand, for the sparkle is pretty well gone from it. iss Black announces herself as lately with Frohman, Daly and others. How lately and for how long is a question in my mind. The act has very little to recommend it. All of the laughs result from the most exaggerated and impossible situations. The first ten minutes of the act are very draggy, and the whole affair seems amateurish. Lynn, Fay & Young. On at 2.27, 13 min in all, open in 1, close in 2. Three pretty girls who sing well and dance better. A bright lively act of the kind. I understand that the act dissolves partnership this week. The Kinetograph, showing the new film "A Honeymoon Trip to Niagara Falls". On at 2.40, 15 min. The best film I have seen in a long while. A capital combination of comedy and some magnificent scenic pictures. This film is bound to be a hit. My opinion of it is shown by its position on the bill. I might state that Mr. Paul Keith passed upon the prominence given the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and decided that it was unobjectionable. The Uessems. On at 2.55, 12 min, full stage. The oftener one sees this act, the more wonderful it seems. It is almost beyond the pale of possibility and will make talk wherever it is shown. Josephine Gassman and pickaninnies. On at 3.07, 14 min, in 1. Miss Gassman is giving a very acceptable act this time. Her little coon assistants are clever and make good very strongly with the audiences.
