217. TEMPLE THEATRE, DETROIT, MICH., DEC. 31, 1906. J. H. Finn. FRED & PAULY- A very good acrobatic act in this spot, but there is so much sameness about acts of this kind that they have ceased to be of value here except as opening acts. 10 min. FS. MELVILLE ELLIS- Very clever monologist, singer and pianist, who negotiated this tough spot in admirable shape. 17 min. in 4. MARCO TWINS- While this act gets considerable laughterI am of the impression that it is too rough for this house. 8 min. FS. KELLY & VIOLETTE- This act always did go well here, and always will go well so long as Kelly retains his rich voice and Violette retains her good looks and here taste in dress. Two new songs. Two new gowns. 14 min in one. FRED WALTON & CO.- Although this is an excellent act and Mr. Walton is a remarkable pantomimist it did not go very strong with us. The principal reason is that our audiences have not been educated to pantomime, which was the reason for the failure of Rose Guerrero at this house. I beleive our audience would prefer DeWitt, Burns & Torrance to Walton and company. 30 min. FS. SHEAN & WARREN- Appearing in "Quo Vadis Upside Down." Went well notwithstanding it has been seen here a number of times. 18 min. in 3. MURPHY & FRANCIS- Repeated their former successes at this theater and went away to lots of applause. 17 min. in one. MME. THERESA RENZ- The prettiest horse act we ever had. Both horses worked in admirable style, and the act went big. 9 min. FS. KINETOGRAPH- "Aladdin's Lamp" is a very good picture and held the close attention of the audience to the end. -------
