219. COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK OF DECEMBER 31st. (H.A.Daniels) PROF. APDALE'S ANIMALS -- This man has trained bears, dogs and monkeys. It is a mighty good opening act. Animals are clean and the act is well dressed. I want it for Cleveland. Full stage, 18 minutes. HENDRIS & PRESCOTT -- Boy and girl, singing and dancing specialty. Act is well known on the circuit. They seem to go as well here as they do in the other houses. Drop in on, 11 minutes. LA MAZE BROTHERS -- Three men in an imitation of Rice & Prevost. The make-up and general work is the same. This is an excellent act and I want it for Cleveland to close the show. I have never seen Rice & Prevost go better than these men did today. I would class the act as excellent. One of the men makes the fall into the orchestra pit, as did Prevost, and makes it fully as well. Full stage. 10 minutes. WHITE & SIMMONS -- "Get in the Band Wagon". This act was on the circuit before i was born. It needs no criticism. They held down this spot in excellent shape and closed to good applause. Drop in one, 17 minutes. CARLETON, MACY, MAUDE HALL & CO. --- "The Magpie and The Jay". Mr. Hodgdon has called the Williams & Tucker act a "Classic in Slang". In my opinion this act sees "Skinny's Finish" at ever point, and goes it one better. It is the best slang act I have ever seen not excepting Burt Leslie or Rose Stahl. It was well received today and is one of the hits of the show. C.D.F. in three, 20 minutes. ELINORE SISTERS -- These girls seemed to go even better here than they did in Cleveland last week - and that is saying a great deal. The act is simply a scream from start to finish and they hard [[had]] work in getting off at the close. Drop in one, 18 minutes. PAUL SPADONI -- Heavyweight Juggler. While this man is good and held down this spot, i would not consider him in the same cleass with Paul Conchas. His work seems to lack fire and he seems to spend a great deal of time in posing that could be well eliminated. I do not think he is as good as when I saw him a year ago. May be the preceding show was too strong for him. Full stage, 20 minutes. COMMENT -- The show is excellent and is considered by everyone here to be much better than the opening bill and business is very good.
