222 222 (handwritten) NEW YORK CRITICISM---JAN. 7th, 1907. REILY & MORGAN--Man and woman. Talking, singing and dancing. One as bad as the other. Their burlesque drama is about as bad as anything I have ever seen. They did not even get one hand and deserved it. 17 mins 2 1/2. Three shows. FOSTER & DOG---A very good entertaining three show act for the children. The dog is trained very well, and the man has a good personality. The bell act was especially good. 12 minutes in one. THREE PERRY SISTERS)----Three young women quite good looking. The material is good, and the act turns out to be a very good one for three shows. The scene is a bedroom with pillow fight, songs marches, etc., and thoroughly pleases the audience. The girls look pretty in Pajamas, and the act is a refreshing novelty. 17 minutes, full stage. JOHN [FL.?] CLARK---Monologue Comedian. An agreeable surprise after some of the so-called monologue men we have had lately. His talk is funny and reminds one somewhat of the late J. W. Kelly. His songs also went well. He is a distinct hit, and his "audience" song got half a dozen recalls. 19 minutes in one. CONNOR & RAYMOND---Young man and woman. Refined and neat in songs and dances. The woman does good work, and her old time "essence" dance got good applause, and the man's grotesque dancing also got a big hand. One of the best three show acts on the Circuit. 10 minutes in two. EUGENE JOLLY---Cornet Virtuoso. This man is a thorough artist, and his triple tongue work made a big impression altho' the audience was not very enthusiastic. 8 minutes in one. BORANI & NEVARO---Man and woman in a comedy sketch. First part of the act drags, but their acrobatic stuff got a big hand. An introduced dog at the finish made quite a hit. An ordinary act. 11 minutes, full stage. EDITH HELENA---A woman with an extraordinary Soprano Voice. Her first song got a terrific hand, and she responded with "The Last Rose of Summer." I have heard some remarkable voices, but this is the most wonderful of all. There seems to be no limit to her range, and to say she made a hit would be putting it mildly. She finishes the act by giving Violin imitation that is great. She is a find at the money, and ought to be advertised. 13 minutes in one. HENRY & ALICE TAYLOR---Sharp shooting act together with some good equilibrium work by the man. This is a very pretentious and good act, and has the advantage of being a novelty. The woman is a splendid trick shot, and got a lot of applause. Her shooting from the Balcony was also received well. Their paraphernalia is very handsome, and makes the act more than usually attractive. The act will undoubtedly be talked about judging from to-day's audience. 17 minutes, full stage. ...almost fall down in this hard spot after four weeks, but it turned out to be quite the contrary. 20 minutes in one. MAX WESSELEY AND HIS TROUPE OF JUGGLERS--A woman and three men in an exceedingly difficult and clever act. The audience had so many good things that they were very cold with these people till towards the finish of the act when they let loose, and the act finished with tremendous applause. It is an act that will never be much talked about on account of so much competition. 13 minutes, full stage. KINETOGRAPH---"Aladdin and his wonderful Lamp." A very good interesting film. "A Trip to the Giant's Causeway, Ireland." Very beautiful scenes. NOTE---This is a great show from number two down to the finish, and it is a long time since we have had so much spontaneous applause for nearly everything. Lindsay Morison.
