231 HARLEM OPERA HOUSE CRITICISM January 14th, 1907 E.F. ROGERS BORANI & NEVARO: Well known. Received good applause for the various stunts. Good opening act. Encore in one with dog pleased. 15 min.-full stage-closed in one MAY DURYEA & CHARLES DELAND: Presenting:-"The Imposter." The way this act went, one would imagine it was its first presentation, every line going with a scream. Finished to big applause. 22 min.-full stage. Taylor Holmes; This man presented an entirely new act. All of his material is excellent, especially the curtain speeches. 17 min VAN ALSTYNE & HENRY: In the "Sal Sinner Girl." Very pleasing act. Miss Henry singing one of Charley Case's songs was a scream, while the audiences seemed to never tire of Van Alstyne's piano playing. All of Miss Henry's character work is well done and was greatly appreciated. Applause hit of the show up to this time. 26 min.-full stage-closed in one HERR GRAIS & HIS BABOONS: A great work. Applauded and laughed at throughout. Seemed like a riot when the baboon did the "Loop-the-loop." 10 min ETHEL LEVEY: Big advance applause. This young woman was easily the "much talked about" member. The audience straightened up and took notice to everything she did. Her costume was gorgeous and her songs carefully selected San three songs with a few steps of dancing and was compelled to encore. Presume she dre [cut off] boys seated on benches. The business introduced is excellent. Sherman gives a trapeze exhibition, which is well known and always has been a scream. Act closes with a donkey bare-back riding and the grand-stand paling with the kids going on a 11 directions. Finished to big applause. 23 min.-full stage KINETOGRAPH "Modern Diogenes" Very good
