(2) Frank Bush. On at 2.34, 20 min, in 1. The same old story, but not the same old stories. A hit. He has got a great amount of new material, and could do even more time if we needed it. 3 Keatons. On at 2.54, full stage 15 min, close in 1 9 in, 24 min. in all. I do not think they are going quite as strongly here as on their former visits. There is absolutely nothing new in their act of any importance. Of course Buster is a remarkable kid, but people are bound to tire of him in time, unless he does something new. Simon & Gardner. On at 3.18, 28 min, full stage. The same old scream. As stated above, Nora Kelly undoubtedly saved a day for them. I don't know what Simon will do when vaudeville audiences tire of this act, for I doubt his ability to play anything else with success. Musical Johnstons. On at 3.46, 12 min, in 1. A really great xylophone act. Take several bows at the finish of their third selection, and could easily play another piece, with pleasure to their auditors. Louise Raffin's Monkeys. On at 3.58, 13 min, full stage. A close in 1, that is so brief that it is of no practical value. There seems to be a difference of opinion about this act: personally I consider it one of the best, if not the very best, monkey acts that I have ever seen, while the critic on one of the papers this morning says that the act is disappointing. I don't know what he expected. I will confess, however, that I wish now I had changed their place with the Sutcliffe Troupe; would surely have done so but for the fact of their opening with musical instruments, immediately following the Johnstons. Think this would have helped the act considerably. Houdini. On at 4.11, 25 min, full stage. There is only one Houdini. It is the same old story with him. Would that there were more headliners like him. Kinetograph. On at 4.36, 20 min. No. 1, "Weary Willie and the Motor Car", an excellent comic film. "Scenes in the Congo", a fine scenic film. Cuts;- La Tour Sisters. Semblance of intoxication in second song. Treloar. Throwing cards to balcony and gallery. Frank Bush. Use word "coon" instead of "nigger". 3 Keatons. "Sounds like L". Comment. I regret very much that I lost Dan Burke and His Schoolgirls this week, as they would have helped supply the novelty which this shows lacks to to a large extent. However, it is a mighty good all-round show, and one that seems to please the Houdini crowds.
