Boston Show Week Oct 18, '09. R. G. Larsen Monday afternoon. Overture. On at 1:50, 10 minutes. Palfrey & Barton. On at 2:00, 12 minutes full stage. While the comedian of this act has some very good stunts on the unicycle, the act as a whole is a big slow and this afternoon did not raise any great amount of enthusiasm. Gavin & Platt. On at 2:12, 19 minutes in 1-1/2, went very well in spots but was a little drawn out and not quite satisfactory for this spot. Barnes & Crawford. On at 2:31, 19 minutes full stage, close in 1. Barnes cut out all his blue stuff and made a rather slow opening, but towards the end he caught the audience in good shape and finished strong. Edward Abeles. On at 2:50, 15 minutes full stage. Although this is rather early for this act it held the audience from the start and got a big hand at the finish. One of the best dramatic sketches we have played. Ray L. Royce. On at 3:05, 19 minutes in 1. Royce always makes good in this house and this afternoon was no exception to the rule. He got laughs all through his act and finished strong. Kalmer and Brown. On at 3:24, 22 minutes full stage, close in 1. This is an A 1 singing and dancing act and compares with Rock and Fulton and is certainly good value for the money. Four Lukens. On at 3:46, 9 minutes full stage, as good a feature as ever with big applause all through. Jones & Deely. On at 3:55, 18 minutes in 1, one of the best black face turns we have played in a long time. Held down the spot in good shape and with an audience that was evidently waiting to see Kellermann. Annette Kellermann. On at 4:13, 8 minutes full stage, going as well as ever in her third week. Kinetograph. On at 4:21, picture of the Hudson-Fulton parade, very good. Comment; The show as a whole turned out very satisfactory and this evening should start a good clip in the following order: Palfrey & Barton; Gavin & Platt; Kalmer & Brown; Barnes & Crawford; Four Lukens; Ray L. Royce; Edward Abeles; Jones & Deely; Kellermann. Cuts; Roy Barnes, "champion pimple puller" Jones & Deely, "damdest" and "woman in room wants a boy.
