Boston show week November 8, '09. R. G. Larsen Monday afternoon show. Overture. On at 1:46, 13 minutes. Spissell Brothers & Company. On at 1:58, 11 minutes full stage. This act made a first rate opener and got laughs from start to finish. Greiger & Walters. On at 2:09, 16 minutes in 1. A very good novelty, started rather slow but warmed up a bit towards the finish and filled the spot very well. Dixie Serenaders. On at 2:34, 21 minutes full stage with close in 1. This act went as well as ever, the singing making a strong appeal. James & Sadie Leonard. On at 2:46, 19 minutes full stage. This is a scream from start to finish. Paul La Croix. On at 3:05, 8 minutes in 1. La Croix did not work very well this afternoon but he was as amusing as ever and filled the spot in good shape. Yvette Guilbert. On at 3:13, 14 minutes full stage. Madam Guilbert got a splendid reception when she made her appearance this afternoon and while there were no great demonstrations all her numbers were well received. She certainly made a very favorable impression and will draw some business, but I am afraid not in proportion to her salary. Ray & Nice. On at 3:27, 16 minutes in 1. These boys have a decided novelty but I was a little afraid of them in this place as their work is barely quick enough. They have some very good songs, their talk is good, and their eccentric dancing, their hypnotic and rube dances with which they closed all get good hands. Then they get right down to the vaudeville spirit and work faster this ought to be a very good act in most any spot. several minutes and then comes up. His final exit is into the tank going down with the curtain holding a large cake of ice over his head and as he disappears under the water the ice he held comes down with a splash. The entire act went very much better than we expected this afternoon and not only the novelty of the ice swimming but the light effects got the people talking as they went out. Kinetograph. On at 4:25, "The Hudson Fulton Military Parade" an interesting and timely film; "The Invisible Thief" fairly good comic. Cuts;- James & Sadie Leonard, "You must not Kid with Caesar" and Dixie Serenaders;- mention of mother in law. Comment. This show worked out very well and from an unusually critical Monday afternoon audience got applause and laughs right through. It seemed particularly adapted to surround such a feature as Guilbert
