33 Boston show week November 22, 1909. R. G. Larsen (Monday afternoon show) Overture. On at 1:45, 7 minutes. Marcel & Boris. On at 1:52, 9 minutes full stage. This new European act proved a pleasant surprise and seemed almost too good for an opener. The boy does mandolin playing, trick violin playing, with the man at the piano, all of which is good, then they go to hand balancing and acrobatic work, the entire act having speed and novelty that would win applause far down on a bill. Fred Duprez. On at 2:01, 20 minutes in 1. The house filled up while Duprez was on but notwithstanding that fact he went big from start to finish with laughs all through. Some of new stuff was new, most of it he has used here before, but he got it over in good shape. De Witt Burns & Terrance. On at 2:21, 14 minutes full stage. This well known act held the place and went as well as it ever did in this house. Nellie V. Nichols. On at 2:35, 22 minutes in 1. Miss Nichols was nothing short of a sensation. She has personality, vivaciousness and humor. Her work is mostly impersonations, some of them a little wide of the mark, but that did not make any difference. She got a hand on everything she did and her finish was a demonstration. She went bigger than Bessie Wynn, Belle Blanche, or even Alice Lloyd ever did in this house. A. O. Duncan. On at 2:35, 20 minutes full stage with close in 1. Duncan got a hand on his appearance and although he did pretty much the same stuff he has been doing here for years, he got by in good shape, even in this fast bill. To-night, however, we will cut him down to 15 minutes to quicken the show at this point. Models of the Jardin de Paris. On at 3:15, 28 minutes full stage with close in 1. The same old story with this act, a hit all the way through and a good close in 1. Gruber's Animals. On at 4:27, 11 minutes in [...] made an ideal closing act for the holiday bill. Kinetograph. On at 4:38, 9 minutes of first rate comedy picture, "His Wife's Birthday." Cuts: Word "Damn" in models of Jardin de Paris. A. O. Duncan, "I'm too much of a gentleman to look under the table." Comment. This show proved one of the fastest and most satisfactory we have played in a long time. It started big and kept up the gait to the finish. The acts in the beginning of the bill proved remarkably strong and under conditions that are not always favorable at this house. Fred DUprez, Miss Nichols and Marcel & Boris made positive hits and any one of them might have gone down the bill had that been possible.
