59 REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF DECEMBER 20, 1909 Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr. The show plays better than I expected and, while not great - two or three of the acts in fact being rather mediocre - I think it will draw as much money as we should expect at this time of the year. ROGERS & EVANS Man and Woman in character songs and a little dancing. Just barely got by. 12 Min. in One. BENJ. CHAPIN & CO Well-known sketch, "At the White House", with the Lincoln character well presented by Mrs. Chapin and about the worst supporting company we ever had in the theatre, such a company as no one but Wm. A. Brady would have the nerve to present. With a good company, the sketch would be interesting. As it is, nothing but the heroics made it get by. I understand it made a hit at the Fifth Avenue. Thanks Heaven the Providence audiences have a little more grey matter. 27 Min. F.S. J. FRANCIS O'REILLY A good looking chap with a good personality who presented a monologue that may be considered as fair. I would not be surprised if, in the near future, when he gets some better material, he would be reckoned among our best monologuists, altho I do not want to give the impression that at present it is a first class act. 13 Min. in One. LULU BEESON TRIO This act is too well-known to need description, but I want to go on record as saying that they are overpaid by at least $100. Went only fairly well. 14 Min. Open F.S. Close in One. ALOIDE CAPITAN The most artistic trapeziste in the business. 10 Min. F.S. RAY & NICE Comedy talking and dancing act. They have a lot of new stuff and went very well indeed. 17 Min in One. BINNS, BINNS & BINNS Well-known musical act that scored its usual hit. 16 Min. Open F.S. close in One. PRINCESS RAJAH Rajah did very well for us today. Didn't get a tremendous amount of applause, but the people seemed interest[ed]. The act she is presenting is artistic and I think will draw. 14 Min. F. S. ANDY RICE Hebrew parodies and stories. Scored a big hit. 15 Min. in One. APDALE'S ANIMALS One of the best acts of the kind that we plan and an improvement even over what they gave us last year. Great value for the money. 18 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
