82 REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF JANUARY 3, 1910. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill plays splendidly, nearly every act on the bill scoring. Hits were made in the following order: Nellie Nichols, Little Billy, 3 Ernests, Frankie Carpenter & Co., Oscar Lorraine, The Mermaids, Frank Wilson. FRANK WILSON. Trick bicyclist. One of the very best. A splendid opening act for any bill. 11 Min. F.S. BRADY & MAHONEY The Hebrew Fireman and the Foreman. Comedy talking act by two men, in which the material is much better than its delivery. Just about held this spot. 18 Min. in One. OSCAR LORRAINE Protean violinist, who scored very well indeed. 14 Min. in One. THE MERMAIDS Well-known act which went as well as upon its previously visits. As this is their third trip here, their value from a drawing standpoint is probably not very great. However, it is a beautiful act and should be very desirable where it has not been seen so often. 8 Min. F.S. GEO. AUSTIN MOORE I consider Mr. Moore exceptionally clever, but for some reason or other he got less applause than any act on the bill except Brady & Mahoney. It is due him to say that he has been ill and was very nervous. 15 Min. in One. FRANKIE CARPENTER, JERE GRADY & CO. From the standpoint of merit, it should read "Jere Grady and Frankie Carpenter, as Mr. Grady gives one of the best pieces of character acting we have ever had in the house, in a part not dissimilar to that recently presented by Wm. H. Thompson in "Waterloo" but without the repulsive features of the latter. Miss Carpenter also does clever work and the sketch as a whole gives splendid satisfaction. Some of the patrons declares they liked it better than Will M. Cressy's rural sketches. 18 Min. F.S. in a very beautiful setting of their own, which they carry. LITTLE BILLY Midget comedian, singer and dancer. This little fellow is exceedingly clever and made the biggest kind of a hit with today's audience. Sufficiently good to be headlined anywhere, particularly because of the novelty of such a little fellow doing such clever work. 14 Min. in One. BETTY IN DREAMLAND This is a good act of its kind and seemed to please the audience, but did not get a great amount of applause. Kathleen Clifford's work is excellent and I can see where "Kris Kringle's Dream" was better last season than it is at present for having her in it before. Without Miss Clifford "Betty in Dreamland" would not be as good as "The Top of the World Dancers". This class of act has never had any great value in this house and the other acts on the bill will probably draw us more business. 25 Min. F. S. NELLIE V. NICHOLS Nothing need to be said excepting that Miss Nichols in this sport carried off the honors of the show. 23 Min. in One. 3 ERNESTS Excruciatingly funny comedy bar and bounding net act which finished the show in great shape and had the audience screaming all through. 7 Min. F.S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
