107. REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF JANUARY 17, 1910. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The show seemed to drag somewhat this afternoon with a very frappe audience. I am inclined to think that many of them had never before seen a vaudeville show. But they were out in large numbers, no doubt attracted by Denman Thompson. GARTELLE BROS. Comedy skating act. O.K. for this position. 8 Min. Open in Two, close in One. REIDY & CURRIER A very pretty singing act, with some harp playing by the woman. Incidentally they carry the handsomest piece of drapery ever hung in the theatre. 13 Min in 1 1/2. ORTH & FERN This well known act held this spot very well. In fact, could have taken a more important position. 15 Min. Open F.S. Close in One. GARDNER & VINCENT Novelty sketch, "Winning a Queen". First time in four years and seemed to strike the audience today as quite a novelty. 18 Min. F. S. THE GREAT LESTER Unquestionably the best ventriloquist I ever saw, but he somehow didn't seem to reach this afternoon's audience. Not by any means the hit he was here last season. I hope for better things with him when our regulars get around. 27 Min. in One. RADFORD & WINCHESTER Well-known comedy juggling act, which went first-rate but ordinarily would not class it strong enough for such an important position as this. 22 Min. F. S. Short Close in One. DENMAN THOMPSON & CO. I can only repeat what Boston said and indications are that he will be a strong drawing card for us. 21 Min. open in One, close F.S. McKAY & CANTWELL Comedy, singing, dancing and talking act, which pleased me much better than it evidently did the audience. 15 Min. in 1 1/2. MARLO TRIO I was rather disappointed in this act in view of the fact that it was touted to me rather strongly. Its presentation is rather crude, the woman does practically nothing and the men only a few important tricks, while the comedy is very weak. It is all right for an opening act at the price paid but not good enough for this spot. 8 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
