C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. FEB. 21-1910. SEVEN SAMOIS. 7 min. F.S. An act patterned after the Whirlwind Arabs in pyramid-building, ground-tumbling and general acrobats. Act worked up to a good climax, receiving some scattered applause throughout and closing with a general tumbling ensemble which got a good hand. Makes a lively opener. ANDERSON & GOINES. 19 min. in one. Well known on the circuit. Made a better impression than ever before. The line of talk is amusing and the ghost act is very laughable. Closed strong. CONNOLLY & WEBB. "A Stormy Finish." 20 min. F.S. These people have certainly a very unique act. Connolly is a genius and his trick-piano work kept the audience in roars of laughter. Miss Webb has a good voice and makes a pleasing appearance. "The Stormy Finish" they they program, is all that they claim for it. Would be a hit on any bill, being thoroughly original, clean and clever. AL. CARLETON. 24 min. in one. Introduced a little new stuff with the old, both in songs and line of talk. His finishing song, "Just My Share," got good applause. Rightly placed on the bill. DENMAN THOMPSON. 19 min. F.S. Strong advance hand. "The Dean" keeps up his popularity as is shown by the afternoon audience which was very good, considering the fact that we have a terrible strike on in various parts of the city, which is inclined to make theatregoers timid. Received his usual big applause at the close. WRIGHT & DIETRICH. 18 min. in one. One of the best singing acts we have ever had here. Miss Dietrich is a beautiful woman with a most charming personality and voice. Mr. Wright also has a good tenor voice, and gets good applause for his solo work, as does Miss Dietrich. The closing number, "By the Light of the Silvery Moon," won such a big hand that they were compelled to repeat. CHARLOTTE PARRY & CO. 23 min. F.S. Same act as presented here before, but it seemed even more finished and held the audience interested right up to a smashing big close. Miss Parry certainly is a genius, and the act one which would grace a strong spot on any bill. LES TROMBETTAS. 14 min. one. Very novel and Frenchy act. The woman is pretty and dresses stunningly. The man is a genius on imitations of all kinds--birds, animals, fireworks, etc., and wins good applause. Held the spot O.K. "HIGH LIFE IN JAIL." 21 min. F.S. This is an original idea and full of laughs from start to finish. The vocal part of the act is exceptionally good. Makes an acceptable closer. KINETOGRAPH. "U.S. ARMY MANOEUVRES AT FORT LEVENWORTH, KANS." A mighty interesting series, instructive and patriotic and especially good for a national holiday week. GENERAL REMARKS. This is one corking good show. It did not go as strong as it would ordinarily on account of outside conditions. The town is practically in a state of siege with the street car strike. There is rioting within a block of us, with fire engines out playing on the mob and three thousand extra police sworn in. Even then the situation not properly in hand. For that reason, the audience seemed to be a little preoccupied and nervous. They commenced going out in the middle of the show, in order, (as they explained to our attendants), to make sure of getting home before dark, as very few cars are running today and none will run after six o'clock tonight, except the subway. CUTS AL. CARLETON. Expression, "It Looks Like a Big Night Tonight" SIMON & SHIELDS. Expression "Oh! h---."
