212 BOSTON SHOW WEEK APRIL 11 '10 [1910]. (Monday afternoon) R. G. Larsen. BENNETT TRIO. 9 minutes f.s. A very good acrobatic team with a comedian who got a number of laughs. First rate opening act. ILA GRANNAN. 12 minutes in 1. Miss Grannan is very good in her class but is hardly heavy enough for the big time now a days. In this spot she got by perhaps better than the great majority of the single singing acts at this price, but--- MADDEN AND FITZPATRICK. 27 minutes f.s. One of those serious sketches, perhaps a bit too sentimental for modern vaudeville, but piano playing and singing makes up for all the sentiment and gets it by in very good shape, especially when we consider that it took 27 minutes. HAINES AND VIDOCQ. 16 minutes in 1. Nat Haines repeated his former success at this house to-day and had the audience going for fair after the first few minutes. GERTRUDE HOFFMAN in her New Revue. 52 minutes. Miss Hoffman here this afternoon repeated the success she made in other cities and our only regret is that her engagement is limited to one week. The house sold out this afternoon and there is a big advance sale on, so that there is no doubt about the week's business. Not with standing the difficulties of getting the production in, and several slight mishaps, she gave a splendid first performance and sent the audience out talking about the act. JARROW. (Magician.) 20 minutes in 1. Following Miss Hoffman this man had a large contract on his hands but we billed him rather heavily and led the people to expect something good, and they were not disappointed, especially in his lemon trick. His comedy as well as his clever palming made a decided impression. With Miss Hoffman not on the bill I think this man would be talked about, and he will as it is. HOLLOWAYS, 15 minutes f.s. This act worked under difficulties, owing to the fact that their baggage was tied up by the Customs officials and we had to transport part of the Custom House to the theatre so that they could be examined in time to allow them to go on. The act is so good that it seemed a pity to waste it at the end of such a show as we have this week. PICTURES. "Selecting a suitor." Good comedy film. COMMENT. There is no doubt about this bill as far as drawing power is concerned. Of course Miss Hoffman is a whole show but the rest of it balanced up very well for a bill of this kind.
