218 HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. Week of April 18, 1910. John C. Peebles. THE MCGRADES, 3 people. Their billing reads "presenting an unusual and somewhat tricky act." They do a little juggling, some boomerang throwing, a little Scotch dancing and some clever bow and arrow shooting. It is one of the most novel and interesting opening acts I have played this season and will make good in this spot on any program. Garden in 3. Time 11 min. FORD & SWORD, Comedians and Vocalists. Two men in a singing, talking and dancing act. Ford's voice was in bad shape this afternoon which somewhat marred the start of the act. They have considerable old material which they get over in pretty good shape and the act closes strong. Street in 1. Time 17 min. BERTRAM MARBURGH & CO., "The Old Baron." A comedy sketch by Chas. T. [Dazoy? Dazey?], employing three people. Story is rather entertaining but needs quickening up before it will do for the big houses. The comedy is quiet but gets over in good shape and the work of Marburgh as the old German is artistic. Act took three calls at finish today. Plain chamber in 3. Time 22 min. MAY MELVILLE, Singing Comedienne. Single women have a rather hard time of it here but this one got her audience right at the start this afternoon and held them with her four songs. She makes an attractive appearance and sings well and will do nicely in an early spot on any bill. Olio drop in 1. Time 12 min. MR. & MRS. GARDNER CRANE & CO., "Pixley's Prodigal Parents." As good a farce comedy as there is in vaudeville and a big laughing hit with today's audience. Special set in 3. Time 27 min. MLLE. BIANCI, A very pretty woman in a series of classical dances that are most beautifully done. In the larger cities the act should prove a sure-fire success. She uses three assistants with her on the stage and employs several lamp operators. Four dances, with changes of scenery and costume are presented. While the applause was not terrific the act went over well and is creating considerable comment. Believe the act will draw us money during the week. Own scenery in 3. Time 13 min. KENNEY, NOBODY & PLATT. in "Mr. Nobody." Two men, one working blackface. The applause hit of the bill today. They are both good singers and their comedy is refreshing and I consider the act fully as good as when McGahan was a member. Street in 1. Time 14 min. SCHEPP'S CIRCUS. A rattling good closing act. Schepp is a nice looking young chap and his dogs, ponies and monks [monkeys] look well and work fast. Act will compare favorably with any animal act we have played and is good value for any manager. Garden in 4. Time 24 min.
