C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. APRIL 25, 1910. DENNIS BROTHERS. 8 min. F.S. This act makes a mighty good opener. The revolving ladder and paraphernalia make all the feats appear difficult. One man works straight, the other in clown costume. Both are excellent acrobats, the clown introducing some good comedy. The finishing trick with the men hanging by their feet and making one complete revolution after another got a tremendous hand. HAWTHORNE & BURT. 14 min. in one. The comedy Hebrew and the wit. Favorites here. Good line of chatter, some of it new. Eccentric dance went well. Made good as usual. Closed well, but do not think the act could go down next to closing as successfully as in previous years. O'BRIEN HAVEL & CO. 23 min. F.S. this is a very amusing sketch, and played with lots of life and ginger. Roars of laughter throughout. Closed big. DOHERTY SISTERS. 15 min. in one. A very sprightly and pretty pair, with new songs cleverly given. One in particular -- that of comparing the manners of a hundred years ago with those of today--was a distinct hit. An all right act in this spot. Close A1. TOM NAWN & CO. 23 min. F.S. "When Pat Was King." This act has been described before and has lived up to its high recommendations. the sketch is in Miss Marble's usual vein, combining character comedy with a bit of fanciful and supernatural. Tom Nawn is a great favorite here and received a good advance hand. Sketch held the interest right up to a smashing good finish. The star is well supported, Miss Appelle making a mighty pretty picture as "The Norse Princess." LES DUMONDS. 14 min. in one. Well known on the circuit. Made their usual hit with their songs and instrumental work, particularly Joseph Dumond with his violin. Good applause after each selection and closed strong. WILLY PANTZER TROUPE. 15 min. F.S. Advance applause. This act is stronger and better than ever, and went like wild-fire. big applause after each one of their feats. The bull fight finish with the dogs was a real riot. AL. JOLSON. 21 min. in one. Certainly made one big hit to-day. His line of talk is great, his parodies are exceptional and he varies his act with whistling, etc. Was a tremendous hit in a show of hits. ANNETTE KELLERMANN. 8 min. F.S. The fact that Annette Kellermann's name is magic in this town was shown in the fact that not one person of a jammed matinee house got up and left the theatre until after Kellermann's act. She received an immense advance hand, making a mighty pretty picture in her new white and silver costume. Received constant applause and murmurs of admiration after every one of her diving feats. Have no doubt she will equal her great record of last year. KINETOGRAPH "Sensational Logging." An interesting series of pictures of the lumber regions with a thrilling finish. GENERAL REMARKS. The Philadelphia public knows a real vaudeville show as was evidenced by the fact that they came so strong on the opening that the doors were thrown open fifteen minutes before time. When the curtain went up, there was not a vacant seat in the theatre, and before 3 o'clock standing room was up at a premium. The show as a show as one of the best balanced bills we have had in the house this season, every act taking honors in its spot, and is a show that will be greatly advertised by word of mouth. Kellermann was undoubtedly the magnet and draw them in, but she will have to divide her honors for the balance of the week with Al. Jolson, Nawn and the Pantzer Troupe.
