C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MAY 2, 1910. SELBINI & GROVINI. 13 min. F.S., close in one. Well known acrobatic juggling and cycling act. Makes a very good opener. The woman is a good dresser, and her feats of strength, as well as her work in general, are good. Considerable comedy, particularly at the close. WARREN, LYON & MYERS. 23 min. F.S., close in one. A sprightly act by two women and a handsome chap, all good vocalists. Comedy a little shy, but the excellence of the vocal work makes up for it. Held the spot acceptably, and made a big finish in one with the "Yip I Addy I Aye" song. LA PETITE REVUE. 19 min. F.S. Very novel feature, going quite as strong as when presented here before. Vocal work of the best, and comedy not wanting. Strong hand at the close. Worthy of a strong spot on any bill. ANCILOTTI & PILU. 10 min. in one. Very amusing act. The dog is remarkably well trained, but the principal part is the comedy work of the trainer in the audience which amused the crowd throughout. Closed well. EDWIN STEVENS & CO. 26 min. F.S. Act has been described before, and the good recommendations were fully justified. One of the classiest and brightest sketches we have ever played, and the best vehicle Stevens has had to show his artistry and versatility. He is, moreover, a favorite here, as was shown by the strong advance hand and the big finish. A1 in every particular. AL. JOLSON. 21 min. in one. Second week. Introduced some new material. Big advance hand and laughter and applause throughout. Stopped the show literally. His novel Trovatore burlesque and imitations went great. FOUR HOLLOWAYS. 15 min. F.S. Three men and boy in girl's makeup, all of them very expert tumblers and acrobats on the tight wire. The comedian makes a good many funny falls, and otherwise enlivens the act with some good fun. The bicycle work on the wire is nothing short of thrilling. Big closing hand. HOWARD & NORTH. 19 min. 1 1/2. This act has been much improved with bright lines, and is now quite in a class by itself. Everyone of the hits scored immensely, and the act took better than the former act, "Back in Wellington." ANNETTE KELLERMANN. 7 min. F.S. Second and last week. Miss Kellermann is still the talk of the town and is keeping up her drawing powers. The house today thoroughly appreciated her work, and applauded with the usual liberality. KINETOGRAPH. "The Newly Weds." A very amusing comedy series. GENERAL REMARKS. A show of the highest class throughout, with a genuine aggregation of artists from start to finish. Conceded to be a stronger bill even than that of last week, and much stronger than any of the bills we had surrounding Hoffmann. Think that it will pull business in spite of the opposition of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and baseball.
