PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE Dec. 12, 1921 FABLES & "TOPICS OF THE DAY - FAbles good. Topics fair. LOYAL'S DOGS - (11 mins.) Same act given here several times. Good routine of showy tricks and did very well as an opener. BOB & PEGGY VALENTINE - (15 mins.) Singing and talking act. Dressed in evening clothes and making several changes. Act starts slow and does not pick up much speed. Did only fair with the exception of one comedy number. WILLIAM & JOE MANDEL - ((13 mins.) A great acrobatic novelty. Working along different lines than any other of its kind and the comedy is a sure-fire laugh winner. Was a big applause and laughing hit. WILLIE SOLAR - (13 mins.) First time we have played him in years and he was a big laughing hit, one of the big hits of the bill. Comedy songs went over fine and he closed very strong with eccentric dancing. THE WRIGHT DANCERS - (23 mins.) This should develop into a decidedly likeable dance act. Carries two principal dancers, very good, a tenor soloist and a group of coryphees. The solo dancing is excellent and the ensemble numbers are well done. The solos of the singer itroduce the various dances and the girls are dressed to represent various nations. Two or three of the single numbers are exceptionally good and the act closed to an excellent round of applause. Act needs a bit of speed and this should easily be done and build the act up to a very nice dancing turn that could hold a good spot. GALLAGHER & SHEAN - (26 mins.) In the next to closing spot these boys did only fairly well Monday afternoon, but changed places with Olcott and Mary Ann in the evening and were a big laughing hit. It is an oddity in the comedy and singing class that will not only please but create talk. They go better each show. Closed big. COURTENAY SISTERS - (29 mins.) These girls recently reunited are using several old numbers, but getting a lot out of them. Should do even better with newer material. The string orchestra is a big help, giving the act a classy look and the boys are excellent musicians. The girls have a real good looking act and should build it into a big winner with their recognized popularity. CHARLES OLCOTT & MARY ANN - (13 mins.) Held this important positi even after all the singing ahead of them. The comedy in the act is nicely placed and well handled. Closed to a big hand and held the spot fine. SNELL & VERNON - (5 mins.) A pretty novelty on the rings by man and girl. Have worked out a showy routine with one big finishing trick and did well in the closing spot. PATHE NEWS - Up to the usual average. GENERAL REMARKS - A lot of singing on this bill, but it had plenty of variety to it and is suited to the pre-holiday season. Audience liked the light entertainment and after the change was made for the evening show on Monday, the bill played satisfactorily. -O-
