PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S JAN. 9th. 2 FABLES & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - About the average. CUMMINS & WHITE - (7 mins.) A very good gymnastic novelty on two men, nicely staged. Good opener. SIDNEY LANDFIELD - (12 mins.) This young man, who later plays for Anna Chandler, put over a very good piano number in this position and got away with it nicely. His material is excellent and he should develop into a very useful act of the kind. Closed to a very good hand. ERNEST ANDERSON & MARJORIE BURT - (16 mins.) A man and woman comedy talking act and very good. Have a great line of talk, which they handle well and they have a lot of punch lines that got big laughs. Carry a special setting. Closed strong. HARRY JOLSON - (21 mins.) A big applause hit. He injects plenty of snap into his work and his songing brought him big results. His plant in the audience added a very good comedy touch and the whole act went over fine. ALLAN ROGERS & LEONORA ALLEN - (18 mins.) A classy singing turn that should be enjoyed on any bill, where good music is appreciated. Both have excellent voices and have selected their numbers with good judgment. They have also made a very nice scenic production of their act and are assisted by an excellent pianist. HARRY NORWOOD & ALPHA HALL - (15 mins.) This act, a comedy taking turn by a man and woman entirely fulfilled expectations. It is a droll comedy turn, very well done, by both principals and a sure-fire laugh-winner. It did exceedingly well in this spot. VALESKA SURATT in "The White Way" - (33 mins.) Miss Suratt has never done anything better, so far as this house is concerned. The playlet is admirably suited and, of course, Miss Suratt created a mild sensation with the way she dresses her role. There is a little more comedy to it than acts she has used in the past and the change has worked for the better. She was warmly received and took several curtains. ANNA CHANDLER - (18 mins.) The new arrangement of her act supplies her with more comedy than anything she has done, and it should develop into the best vehicle she has used. Her songs, as usual, are new and original. and she deserves this credit for keeping out of the class of singers who use a lot of public numbers. She proved an excellent next to closing act following the thirty minutes of talk by Suratt. JACK WYATT'S SCOTCH LADS & LASSIES - (15 mins.) This act always has done well for us and it held down the closing position very satisfactorily. PATHE NEWS - (10 mins.) This is one of the poorest reels that the Pathe has ever given us. The subjects are ordinary and uninteresting. GENERAL REMARKS - A very satisfactory bill from start to finish and with a big name feature as headliner the bill had a lot of drawing power which ought to get us an execllent week's business. -O-
