2 C. E. BARNES. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 6, 1910. MUSICAL JOHNSTONS. 14 min. 2 1/2. This is a bully opener, although they are strong enough to go in any spot where a musical act is needed. Make a fine appearance and their xylophones are beautifully draped. One of the best xylophone features we ever played. Four difficult selections, and each received a big hand. Closed very strong. CLIFFORD & BURKE. 19 min. in l. These boys got the crowd very strong this afternoon. Their line of humor is better than ever, and, of course, the songs and grotesque dancing got a big hand. Laughter and applause throughout and a strong finish. FRANK WILSON. 10 min.F.S. A remarkable trick cyclist. Does some stunts that have never been seen here before. Got a good hand after each one of his stunts. One of the most expert bicycle acts ever shown here. TOM WATERS. 16 min. in one. Advance applause. Tom is a favorite, being a Pennsylvania born. A versatile act, and full of good character humor and musical work. Good applause throughout and several encores. SELMA BRAATZ. 14 min.F,S. Second appearance here and practically the same, although running smoother and more finished. Miss Braatz makes a dainty appearance. Her stunts are of the kind made popular by European jugglers but performed by a young girl are remarkable. Closed with the lighted batons, juggled in the dark. Big hand. A drawing card anywhere. WHITAKER & HILL. 17 min. in one. Advance applause. One of the best vocal and instrumental acts in vaudeville. Miss Whitaker makes a splendid appearance, plays the harp skilfully, has a charming mezzo-soprano voice and a keen sense of humor. Hill works in the orchestra leader's chair and gives Miss Whitaker very clever assistance. Some of the songs rendered here before, and some new ones, all of them receiving a big hand and an encore. Closed big. JULIUS STEGER & CO. 31 min.F.S. Second presentation of this act here and just as strong and impressive as ever, if not more finished and convincing. The audience gave it the deepest attention and there was frequent applause. Certainly vaudeville does not boast of a more classy and impressive feature. Immense applause at the close. SIX AMERICAN DANCERS. 13 min. in one. Every time these clever artists return they seem to make a bigger hit. Their new costumes of yellow and gold with the plumed hats are very effective against the velvet drop. Each one of their dancing numbers received applause and their ensemble work went immense. The most unique dancing act in vaudeville. MARTINETTIE & SYLVESTER. 8 min.F.S. Well known act, on man working straight, the other clown comedy, using table and chairs. The tumbling on the carpet is expert and the falls of the clown got laughter and applause. Makes a good closer. KINETOGRAPH. "She Wanted a Bow Bow." This is a fair comedy film. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a mighty good bill and will certainly please out audiences this week. The original routine will be retained, as it played smoothly and gives satisfaction.
